Wi-Fi Issues Persist

Wi-Fi issue still an issue all these months later. As I write this, with my Garmin on my wrist.....I can't get my wi-fi to connect to my watch. I bought this watch on Sunday Dec, 22. and I'm likely to return it back to the store and purchase another Apple Watch. Lame. Is Garmin even trying to fix the problem?

My understanding is that Garmin watches can only connect to 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi. If your router supports 5Ghz and you have both frequencies combined onto the same SSID then I think (more of a guess), depending…

Having owned the watch for 4 days now....I have not reached out to Garmin Support. Figured I'd see what I could find in the forums before contacting Garmin. Have you had this issue?

No wifi-issue here. Never has been. Have you tried different networks? Maybe your router is the problem. Try contact Garmin support. They are fantastic. (at least here in Norway)

My understanding is that Garmin watches can only connect to 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi. If your router supports 5Ghz and you have both frequencies combined onto the same SSID then I think (more of a guess), depending on router model, there might be a confusion at times where the router tries to force the watch onto the wrong band and it simply cannot connect. This "theory" might be completely bogus, but I think I've seen it suggested over the years for various devices with connecting problems.

If you can separate your Wi-Fi bands into separate SSIDs then maybe you can solve the problem. Personally I always keep my bands separated and I never have Wi-Fi problems with any device, watch (3HR, 5X+, 6XSolar) or otherwise.

I have the same thing on my Asus router, but I've disabled it. I use different SSIDs for each band so I know exactly what I'm connecting to. Maybe it's a solution, maybe not. Worth a try if not too inconvenient.

There another Wi-Fi thread on here. Apparently BT Home Hub routers come configured by default with a login screen for each new device that connects. The watch has no way to deal with this screen, so it cannot complete the connection. Effing stupid router design. So many devices these days need a connection, but can't handle a dialog screen - security cameras, for example, watches, smart speakers.
