F6 Pro, oh dear

I have the F6 Pro (fully updated) and I want to have a good moan

There are no bugs; heart rate is perfect with and without HRM strap, navigation is perfect, GPS tracks well (much better than my now-sold F5), battery life is as advertised, no audio drop-outs when running with music, Wi-Fi syncing completes almost as soon as I walk through the front door, screen is a lovely crisp black etc etc.

I demand some bugs!

For those of you who complain about Garmin and their products please remember that you are in the minority. For the tens of thousands of devices that Garmin sell there will always be a few bad 'uns. It's a fact of life. If you get a bad one return it and get a replacement or refund. Coming here to bump your gums about how it isn't working as you expect produces a false image of the products.

For those of you who have no complaints, continue to enjoy the normality!

Well done Garmin, I enjoyed my F5 and I'm enjoying my F6. Keep up the good work.

Buddy, even minorities have the right to complain and there are a lot of situations when Garmin will not replace the unit, it will "repair" it and send it back to you (in my cases, 3 times after 3 weeks…

The 5K was done in run mode so HRM was connected. Other runs without strap were okay too.

Versions 4.3 and 5

I think you two are speaking about different things.

When you open an activity app, even if you don't start the activity the OHR works differently than if you just checking it in the HR widget or on the watch face. Latest works in a kind of power saving mode and it's not that accurate as in activity mode (let's not just speak about how accurate it is in that mode compared to a strap).

The best way would probably be adding a setting where the user could select if they are fine with this behavior or they want the 'performance' mode to the expense of the battery usage.

No. The hr reading is more power saving when you're not in an activity. Your actual hr has nothing to do with it. Didn't who knows just suggest this to you in another post?

So if i ran stairs up, and switch to the widget, i cant expect to get values that make sence? So if i have 150, it showing 100 should be correct? What about the calories burned ? All these day tracking data becomes rubbish.Why does Garmin not published, that this will become an issue after updates above FW 3.10, as this was showing actual correct values.

I do not know how it's programmed, I read it in this forum and, as I recall correctly, on the DCR blog.

I also did some testing which confirmed it.

If I needed to guess I would say the sample rate frequency is higher when you start an activity app and lower in watch mode.

Nevertheless, I still believe the best thing would be to let the users chose their preferred mode.

Yes, a mode would be the best way! But if i stay 10 Minutes at 140, and the wigdet isnt able to get over 100, its absolutely useless, and the lower hr reading effects to the calories burned. In an activity, i have datafields. There is no need to switch to the widget.

As i said, with FW 3.10 all was fine. Just after update it started go show these power savings effect.

Not if the heart rate readings are set to sample less when not doing an activity. It would be slower to catch up to your real heart rate. How many people have to explain this to you?
