treadmill running/ calibration issues

So my fenix 6s pro recently started tracking my runs on the treadmill 2x faster than what I actually run. I have calibrated and calibrated and it still is not fixing the problem. Im running with a foot pod and HR chest strap. It says everything is up to date but Im getting frustrated. This has been going on for weeks and just started randomly doing this. When I run outside its fine, its tracks normally, but the treadmill is really throwing off my race predictions and everything.

I have contacted technical support as a 15km run on the treadmill was measured as 27.3km on the watch. No a treadmill calibration issue, seems more fundamental.

What footpod?  I ask because with my Fenix 5x the garmin and suunto footpods were horrible on the treadmill.  I don't know if it's the bounce or whatever but they were just all over the place.   Taking them off and using the watches arm motion measurement was far better.

Also might be worth checking that GPS isn't on somehow?  That will generate extra distance as the plotted point bounces around you.

My Stryds have been ridiculously accurate from day one.   I'll never go back to a low end footpod.

Im using a Garmin foot pod that i just bought in october and the HRM Dual chest strap. It was working fine until right around thanksgiving and then started saying I was running 2x faster than what I really am. And I try to calibrate it after every run on the treadmill but it wont change. Running outdoors is fine, pace is spot on.

  • Hi Former Member,

We've troubleshooted a similar report before, and in that case the issue was that the foot pod's battery was dying. In that instance, replacing the battery in the foot pod resolved the issue.

I can't be positive that the same action would fix your issue, but could you give it a shot?

If replacing the foot pod battery does not have an impact on your treadmill distance, please email us at [email protected], and include one of the treadmill activity files for when you encountered this issue.

    Thanks!
