Fenix 6 watch face wifi downloading

Till new to my Fenix 6. Wanted to change the watch face to crystal, but got an IQ! error when accessing it on the watch.

I am still new to this watch and am trying to find how to update firmware/software.

I recently added a new wifi, and when I connect to it it tells me I have an error and 19 files to download.

Any ideas how to help?

I saw on the forum someone else had this problem and it was tied to a version problem but I could get it to work on my watch

Pair it to your mobile and install garmin connect. It will update the watch.

Alternatively connect it to your pc and install garmin express, this should also be the most reliable update process and you could also update the pre installed maps on the watch

I downloaded Garmin connect and used it to install 2 watch faces. I see them in connect, yet when I go to the watch I have 2 additional entries of IQ! under watch faces

Well so far, lots of views, but no real answers. I was also trying direct garmin support, but they are asking for the serial number of my watch which is no where to be found, not even in the connect app.

Where do I find my serial number, besides the box that the watch came in (which I dont carry around with me)!!!

The serial number is one side of the watch under the quick release band. For the most iq watchfaces and apps you need the newest firmware to be installed. But notice, that you will loose correct hr readings with the optical sensor, as newer firmware’s are faulty. Garmin is working on a fix, but they did not managed to get it fixed since several weeks.

If you go to the Garmin Connect website and click on your Fenix 6 device tile, then the device page that comes up shows the serial number (a lot easier than trying to read the tiny letters/numbers after taking the QuickFit band off).

Do the new firmwares give lower or higher fault hr readings?

Lower hr readings at all day tracking ( without activity). Garmin has a ticket with their software team. FW 3.10 is still ok.

Yes, off course. As i said. If you want to get iq watchfaces working, you have to update from 3.10 to the actual Firmware. But then you get faulty hr readings. At the moment you have to take a decision, what you prefer.

Probably fairer to say that some users are reporting faulty HR readings. Some of us aren't.
