Fenix 6 freezes whenever I try to start a run

As of this morning, my Fenix 6x sapphire freezes whenever I try to start a run.  This is rather inconvenient because I mostly use this watch for running.

  • Asia Pacific device - no clue what the actual differences are.  Sounds like you probably don't have one.  You should probably contact customer support directly if you haven't already.

  • Thanks I took your advice and contacted Garmin, turns out my device is an international model but sold through an Australian reseller, so I've got to pay for the shipping, but Garmin said I can send it to them for testing, will let you know of the outcome.

Friday morning I was about to go for a quick run, so I pressed the triangle button (top right) to select "Run" and it froze, after about 5 minutes it un-froze and caught up rapidly, I've attached a video of the last bit:

Then after that same run, I stopped the activity, saved it and the summary screens were extremely to cycle through. After about 5 minutes I got back to the watch face and as you can see in the attached video it was still frozen and then the backlight changed and the screens color got all washed out. This doesn't always happen, but it does occur 1 in about 4 times after freezing.

I've done 2 activities since this and no issues, but like I said earlier it only seems to happen a few times per week.

  • Garmin Australia sent me a replacement, got it today, fingers crossed no more problems.

  • Been over a month now and not a single lockup, so must have definitely been faulty
