Inaccurate steps count with fenix 6x sapphire

The steps count with my 6x is inaccurate. For example, in the morning, I just go downstairs it counts 72 steps. I always take my note 10 plus with, 6x counted steps normally 2000 more than note 10+ does when I walk 10000 steps. Anybody else has the same issue? Thanks!

  • I have benchmark within short distance such as within my house or less than 1000 steps. In terms of short distance my note 10+ is much accurate.

  • I've counted up to 2000 steps during walks and my F6 is accurate, even if I and the watch disagrees about the totals in the end it's not a big difference and I can't honestly say it is the watch that got it wrong...

When comparing to my phone (a S9) I, just like you, get fewer steps with the phone but I since the watch is on my wrist all day (and night) compared to the phone that from time to time is on my desk, in my hand while I talk and sometimes in a bag I don't think that the phone is more accurate than the watch. The truth might be somewhere in between. For me it is more a way of creating a baseline and compare days against the baseline.

Mine is also way off - just got the watch and have been wearing for a few days.  I type alot at my standing desk all day today and I'm already at 4,435 steps - there is no way that's accurate!  Is there something you need to calibrate?

  • So far today (now 22:32 at night, so nearly a full day) I have the following numbers...

6X Pro Solar says 7383 steps.

S10+ says 7037 steps in Samsung Health

S10+ says 7028 steps in Google Fit.

Since the watch is always on my wrist and sometimes I take steps without my phone I am completely comfortable with these numbers.

My Oura ring says 8715 steps, but that is on my dominant hand, so maybe brushing teeth or washing up or operating the TV remote or swiping and tapping on my phone/tablet add extra for hand movements. Still happy.
