6x charge cable connection issues

I have had my 6x for a few weeks now, and I am finding that the charge cable is no longer working reliably. If I plug it in, you do not get a charge indication most of the time. I can wiggle the cable about a bit and sometimes it will work.

I have bought a couple of extra cable off ebay and so far they seem to work, at least most of the time.

I suspect that the pins in the watch are getting dirty or something? They look ok, but who knows?

Is this a problem generally?

I have the opposite happening, I have this issue with the eBay cables, but not the factory garmin cable.

I'd just clean the terminals on the watch with a cotton swab and a little contact cleaner (alcohol), see if that helps.

Have the same issue with my 6x Sapphire cable, I ALWAYS keep the pins clean and dry when I charge/connect the watch. Dc Rainmaker mentioned this problem when he advertised a charger he bought on Amazon.

Have to admit my problem is not as bad as yours, but it is there, mine disconnects only when I jiggle it.

yeah, that happens with me too. i wonder if I should put in a support request to Garmin? Not much they can do, I suppose.

I've seen this kind of issue on aftermarket cables but not on the OEM so far anyway. The aftermarkets use a metal that's thinner in the housing of the cable end that goes into the watch and it gets bent pretty easily but the OEM could get bent in the same way. There is a little bump in the housing that locks the cable in place. Yours may have gotten bent out of shape and you may have to very slightly bend it back into shape to get the bump to engage correctly again.

Just spoke to Garmin Australia and they were super helpful and friendly. Probably the best support people I have ever dealt with anywhere. Kudos to Garmin for that!

That's my experience. My factory Garmin cable is very secure, and stays connected even when I move things around. It's actually almost difficult to attach and detach.

I bought three aftermarket cables, and they all work ok, but they are all a bit more sensitive to movement. Especially when I'm using those cables for data transfer, I need to make sure the watch and cable are stationary and won't move. The factory cable doesn't have this problem, it stays connected very well.

I would guess that, over time, the metal ring in the cable could get stretched apart enough to make the connection intermittent, you might be able to use needlenose pliers to squeeze it tight again.

send in photos. Doing that now. they suggested sending it back, but would hate to do that. I use the thing every weekend hiking.

Same problem too, even using a spare genuine Garmin cable from a series 5. Both cables work fine on the series 5 though!
