blister and skin irritation from Fenix 6

I bought a Fenix 6 about 2 weeks ago.  After about a week I had a red irritation on my wrist beneath the right side of where the watch sits on my wrist (opposite side of charger).  About 3 days later I had a blister on my wrist beneath where the HRM would rest.  I worked out a couple of times and worked up a moderate sweat wearing the watch and rinsed the watch off with water after each time.  I don't wear the watch when I shower or sleep.  Anyone else having this issue or any idea why I am?

I have alot of skin irritation, I have the fenix 5X, but it helps if I wash it every day with soap and water and wear it at my left arm, right arm and at my work at the hospital I have it around my ankle as we can not have it at the wrist. Try using a mild soap. I use mine wheen sleeping. Charge the watch when it is completly dry, or els the pins will rust or corrode.

  • I get mild skin irritation (but not to the point of blisters) if I wear my watch too tight all day long.

I solved it by just wearing my watch one or two notches looser during all-day use, and tighten it only when I'm recording an activity. I also always take my watch off during showers, to give my skin time to breath.

Also, my wrist swells at certain points of the day, like if I get hot or maybe if I eat too much salt or something, and I just make a habit of adjusting my strap regularly when that happens.

  • Consider nickel allergy. ie. the edges of the buckle, and possibly stainless back.

  • Similar issue here. Skin allergy, probably to the metal of the quickfit band. In my case (fenix 6x) I solved the issue replacing it with the silicone band of my Fenix 3 (non quickfit).

  • In my case, it's definitely not an allergy - it was just from having it too tight sometimes. Loosening the band by 1 hole solved the problem completely.

Yeah, I take my watch off for showers and when I sleep.  Once the blister heals I'll try wearing it a little looser and see if that helps.

I seem to be ok with the band.  My problem is with the bottom side of the watch itself.

  • I got a blister on a 3 hour mountain bike ride in the rain from my 6X bouncing and rubbing against my styloid process of ulna bone (I know nothing of anatomy, but that's what I think it is after 10 minutes of googling). My injury healed after a day or two of not wearing the watch. You seem to be having a more serious reaction.

  • In an older thread about skin irritation, Former Member said this:

"Any user experiencing skin irritation of any kind should reach out to us directly via support.garmin.com for assistance. We will gladly work with you to find the quickest and most suitable resolution."

  • Just been doing a trial, I am allergic to nickel, but stainless steel should be ok for most people. Healed my rash by wearing the titanium band, but importantly the buckle is stainless steel, so I'm ok with stainless. C.sco you are quite correct mostly it is on hot days with the band too tight that I get a rash. The cheap $4.00 bands from China are the worst because they are more elastic than the originals and it is easy to have them a little too tight, although now that I am aware I make an effort to keep them loose. In winter I had no problems.
