Fenix 6 battery drain with bluetooth turned on?

I am very surprised by the speed at which the battery drains with the bluetooth turned on (less than 4 days to drain). If I turn it off, charge is as expected (>15 days). Is there a setting to slow the battery drain while bluetooth is on?

  • I have the same problem and need the useful advice.

  • Same with Android 10. Pixel 3a, fenix 6s pro. Around 36 hours of battery life

  • Same with Android 10 and pixel 3a, +fénix 6s pro. Around 36 hours of battery life

  • On F6 at full charge 14 days with BT and everything on.
    21 days without BT.
It is 30% more battery without BT.

Now I disable connection at home and at night.

  • Same issue, Fenix 6X sapphire, 18 months old, suddenly a month or so ago went from 10 days between charges to barely a day or so. I had not made any changes to the settings. I have followed the forums and it appears to be a bluetooth issue. Something has changed there. When I run the watch without the phone connection battery drain is normal. Bluetooth the phone form smart notifications only basically and it chews through the battery.

Only solution so far is the below:

Set battery saver mode for the do not disturb 10pm to 6am

Only connect for minimal period to bluetooth (which kind of makes it NOT a smart watch)

  • Went through Garmin support via email, tried all the fixes for software resets etc on my Fenix 6X, no good, a 45 minute walk would use 20% of the battery, lucky to get two days  out of it.

Garmin then asked to me to send mine in for a refurbished one, looks like new. 24 hours in, notifications on, bluetooth to phone, wifi off, did one 45 minute walk with GPS and only used 3% in that time.

I agree with some comments on here, I am not convinced it is a software issue, I think the battery drops off a cliff in performance terms after a time period and that is why Garmin in doing the refurbished swap with new batteries in them I suspect.  Anyway the refurbished one is working like it should so good on Garmin for coming to the party outside of the warranty period.
