Are your DLC bezels holding against scratches?

6X Sapphire owner here. How is your DLC bezel holding?

No dinks or scratches on mine 2 months after - but read some disturbing Reddit posts of Marq Commander (DLC) and Fenix 6X Sapphire (DLC) - both with scratches caused by contact with wooden table.

Happy so far? If you have scratches - can you add how you got them and add photos.

P.S. Please comment with respect and without doubting other users (experience). It will keep the thread clean. Thank you.

  • Hi

I have 6X Sapphire with DLC. No scratches or marks at all. I have clipped my kitchen door with it 3-4 times when rushing through but it hasn’t marked it in anyway yet. Hope it fares as well if I catch it on a harder or less smooth surface.

  • Caused by a wooden table?? How freaking hard did they smash into the table?!?

I've had mine over 2 months, banged it into all kinds of stuff, and it's even been bitten by a puppy a number of times. No damage whatsoever, it would still pass as a factory-new watch.

  • And a report of it being scratched by a fingernail!

Mine is fine even after a couple of falls off a mountain bike and banging it some posts.

  • 6 Pro DLC here, looks like new after about 6 weeks.

  • I've had my 6X Sapphire DLC about a month. I'm not very gentle with it and recall striking door frames, walls, and other random items. The watch, DLC coating, and sapphire glass look like new. Only the band has any signs of wear...and just barely.

  • I ordered a protection film, in the meantime is ok, but i'm being very cautios. In my F5+ the shield prevented from scratch a few times.

  • My previous Fenix was a sapphire and it is brutally hard.  Not a scratch after 3 years of daily wear.  that said- I opted for the Base F6 Pro this time, with Gorilla glass and without the DLC, and so far not a scratch in either the bezel or screen.  and- the gorilla glass screen has far less reflection than the sapphire.  I notice it every time I glance at my watch how much clearer the display is.  happy so far, but I assume it will eventually show some scratches... at which point I'll buy a Fenix 8.

  • I've had my Fenix 6S Sapphre DLC for about 2 months and the screen and bezel still look like new, as I would expect as I'm very careful with it. I hope the black plastic parts don't "smooth out" over time like they did on my Forerunners, kinda like soft erosion. The lugs still have that slight textured feel to it. And the black plastic surround on the OHR still looks like new unlike the one on the Forerunners which always got covered in swirl marks after a few weeks.

I opted for the 6X Pro with Gorilla Glass.  In fact, the main reason I upgraded to the 6 series was because there was a model WITHOUT sapphire.  The display is much clearer with the Gorilla Glass.  Also, the bezel (NOT DLC) and glass still look like new after a little over two months.  Still, every time I look at the watch I am pleased with the clarity of the display:

  • I feel like my sapphire is clear enough for me. The black is a little grayer maybe.
