OS Maps on 6X possible ?

I don't suppose anyone has been daft enough to try and put an OS map onto a 6X

The 5X used to support the 1:50k and then they quietly dropped it for the 5+ series having initially supported it

Strangely their new super expensive Marq Commander which I think is 5+ based supposedly supports them

Yes, it works, many people do this. I loaded up some europe maps into mine without issue.

Sorry I should have been more specific, when I say OS maps I mean UK Ordnance Survey

I don't believe that Garmin now support OS maps on any Fenix series devices. If you use the Maps tab in the Garmin site for the Fenix 6 Pro series devices you will see they only offer the TopoActive/Pro maps, these are based on OSM data and are dynamic vector maps. The OS maps are raster (like a scanned/digitized paper map, and a fixed resolution).

Thanks TT, yes I'm not quite sure why they dropped it, perhaps it wasn't a great experience ? Having used View Ranger on an Apple Watch with 1:25k maps I think Garmin are missing a feature. The problem with the AW is the battery will struggle to get through a full days walking and the View Ranger app isn't my favourite. The 5 series screens are just too small but I think the 6X could show them well ? Not quite sure why they only support them on the super expensive Marq Commander even though I that must be 5+ or 6s based given it's 240x240 screen size

I have the 1:50k OS map SD card in my edge 1030. I have copied the map file to my fenix 6 and it works fine. You have to zoom out a bit though a it is not that detailed. It takes a little time to load as well.

Interesting. How big is the file ? Did you just drag it from the SD card straight to the fenix in Windows ?

how did you manage this? I tried copy/pasting the mapssupp.img file from my edge to my fenix 6x and after the 3 hours to upload it came up with an error "cannot unlock maps"?
