  • Still waiting for my ohr to be usable.

  • Don't know if I missed something in recent updates but I noticed that the UI when configuring data screens and fields changed after installing the beta. Must say that the new UI is much better and gives a direct look and feel of the changes. If it is a new change I'm surprised it isn't in the release notes.

  • thanks for pointing that out.  I noticed the little circles on the left to let you know where you were in the data screens, but the menu that slides in from the right makes things a little nicer as well.  nice little update there.

  • I hadn't noticed before either, but I like it too.  It's really quite different than it was.

  • That is awesome, I'll take any improvement with datascreen setup that I can get!

I still wish they would let us use Connect to set these up, though... It's so cumbersome using the watch to do it. I have to hit so many buttons that I feel like I'm going to wear them out.

  • Please fix whr sensor. Today during hiking max hr 107. New Emojis? Seriously?!!

  • The circles do look helpful - are they there all the time or only when you press up/down?

The sliding menu looks weird, though. TobiasLj mentions it helps to see the changes, but it looks like most of the screen is covered...

  • Well done Garmin... no OHR fix, no RD pod pair fix... but hey, we are emojis now, really really necessary on sport watch.

    Thanks for your great job

  • In my side, yesterday i uploaded this fix and it’s even worse for OHR for the same effort done before and after :

    Before :

    After :

Before with 4.30, I was at 155 for a real bpm of 170 and now with this new fix i am at 120bpm

Obviously, the tests were done exactly under the same conditions, perfectly respecting the garmin recommendations for wearing the watch : support.garmin.com/.../

I had a fenix watch 5X front for 2 years I have never seen such glaring problems.

  • I find the OHR-problems that many of you have a bit erratic. I don't doubt that you have problems but on the other hand I don't think that the change in FW or buggy software is the only cause.

In the past I did all my endurance activities  with a chest strap and still do but one of the reasons for buying the F6 was to get a HR reading for other activities like walking and easy cycling and also to get HR readings while on business trips or vacation for all activities without the need for a chest strap.
I just spent 10 days on a family vacation and did four runs and I find the OHR even better than my expectations. One example is this run: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/4216991951

It responded directly to elevation and pace changes. I would for sure notice differences I would have used two watches and one of them with a chest strap but still all HR readings are within what I would expect.
And I really recommend everyone the start a real support case with Garmin even though they have admitted that they are working on software updates.

I wear my watch tight and straight on the arm, no tattoos and not hairy arms. Perhaps it is time to start finding the reason for bad OHR readings by other means than to just focus on the software.

A friend of mine, having a 3HR, sweats so much on the arms that the readings just get worse and worse during an exercise. In the end, after trying different devices he just realized that spending $70 on a chest strap would be the easiest and best solution for endurance activities. When comparing different devices (including those built in to treadmills and crosstrainers) some showed a more correct value that the F3HR at a given time but overall they were just as much wrong as the F3.
