Common BT headphone shortcomings

We are all aware of the shortcomings that the Fenix series has with BT headphones.

Maybe someone has insight into why this is so surprising since Garmin has had quite a few watches supporting BT headphones.  Why  cant they get it right on the Fenix 6 series.  Good question.

My primary BT headphones are a Jaybird Tarah Pro, and they are actually working quite well with the Fenix 6x.  Both the watch and the earbuds can control the volume.  However since I dont always carry my tarah's with me I wanted a 2nd pair at the office.  Got a sweet AndroidCentral dead on some UTAXO UT-BH002 on amazon.  Got them for about $20 buck each for two pair.  Started playing around with them.  and I am considering myself spoiled with the Tarah Pros.  The UT-BH002 connect, and work.  However, controlling the volume does not. I can  play/pause ffwd/rwd.  Thats about it.  (Note the volume control did work when I sampled them connected to my mobile phone).

So I search around some in the forums, but the history is getting a bit old. What BT headphone issues are most common for you all?

  • General consensus is that the problems are headphones with one receiver on the different side to the user wearing the watch. Headphones have tiny batteries and are generally used for phones the pump out a strong signal unlike wearable which are minimising the power output. I’m sure there isn’t a standard for controls being followed by all manufacturers especially the lower quality ones

  • I would have thought just the opposite in terms of "standard for controls being followed by all.."

I dont research BT profiles, but would have thought its pretty essential to have some commonality in such things, else BT headphones would no be ubiquitous to the device they connect to.
