I have upgrades from the Vivoactive 3 to the Fenix 6X Sapphire and I cannot find the "Steps" datafield for my run/walk/hike activities.
I do not want to waste one of my 2 IQ spots on using SimplySteps.
Did I miss where steps are listed in the datafields, or was there a reason that steps are not included in these activities on the Fenix 6?
There is an inbuilt steps data field now with the newest f/w
It's under "others"
This omission is crazy, especially considering it's on lower-trim devices.
There are CIQ data fields that will show this, or another option is the "widget" hotkey while doing your activity and seeing the data in a native widget.
Strangely, I don't think you missed anything, I don't believe there's a native Steps datafield. Which seems insane to me. I really wish Garmin would make one.
I've used "Steps To Fit" and "Steps Carousel" previously, but one or both of those were causing my watch to constantly crash/reboot, so for now I'm without a steps datafield 
I use "Simple Steps" which can be find in the IQ store.
It works just great.
