UPDATE REQUIRED - Running Dynamics Pod not connecting to fenix 6 Pro

A month has passed since I've dropped the Running Dynamics Pod complaint and many users, who also suffer from this bug joint in so far. We are all forced to manually remove and reassign the RDP prior to runs.

forums.garmin.com/.../running-dynamics-pod-not-connecting-to-fenix-6-pro

This is not a situation I would like to see much longer, I'm afraid to say. The sensor is a PROPRIETARY Garmin component, bought for common use with most of Garmin's running app associated devices.

I have opened the second threat in order to remind about the need to obtain a fix asap.

Thanks for your efforts, Garmin.

Best,

- Road.

  • Lots of other reports about this already, I'm sure Garmin is already working on it.

I paired an RD pod to my Fenix 6X a week ago, didn't have any issues. I had to do a factory reset on my watch yesterday (for unrelated reasons) and paired my RD pod to it again, and again I had no issues. So I have no idea why it's working fine for some people and not others, all I can say is that this problem doesn't seem to affect everyone, for some reason.

  • Very glad to hear that on your side, running a 6X things seem to be OK. Unfortunately, according to my estimate this is not the case for the majority of users.

    So let's have the tally:

  • I don't have any problem pairing my RD pod either.  I don't use it anymore but I paired it just to see if I was having any issues, and I'm not.

  • Great Linda, good to hear. Cast your vote with your specific device pls. Thx and Best, Road

Thanks for highlighting this issue again, I am yet to get any kind of response to my support ticket for this issue Disappointed  I can surmise that it is an issue with the Fenix 6 specific software, my pod worked flawlessly on my 5x

  • Yep Bruce, kind of disappointing and sorry to hear regarding your status, I am in the same boat. The issue needs to be reminded to Garmin, let's see how and when they are going to care.

Based on my experience it will work the first time. It's the runs afterwards that no longer record data. It for some reason shows its connected when the RD POD is not even active. The pod is not able to reconnect again until you remove it and add it back.

  • A variant of the bug, maybe, observed on my side with F6X Pro + RDPod : from time to time, lets’s say once a week, I will restart my watch in order to get sensors connected ( RDPods + Footpod + Ext HRM)

    1. My rd pod worked like a charm on my 645 and then on my 245. I would have never expected to get such an issue. I expect Garmin to inform all us by confirming that they are working on it and that we will get a solution (very) soon.

Brand new RD Pod, with a Fenix 6x Pro, and I get the same "flashing icon" and no data that most others get. Shows as connected in the sensor settings, but no data logged. I haven't tried the full remove, restart method yet - I'll do that today. But honestly the thought of having to fully power cycle the watch before a run on such a premium device with 1st part accessories is pretty poor.

I've raised several report emails with Garmin support but have yet to hear a reply (a week of waiting so far).
