FENIX 6 IS NOT FOR RUNNING!

Write on the box in capital letters: FENIX 6 IS NOT FOR RUNNING!

It can be a good watch for hiking (when positioning once an hour), it can be a good watch for a bicycle (when they constantly look at the sky), but it is a terrible watch for running. GPS track is not accurate and not true (only GPS, GPS+GLONASS or GPS+GALLILOE – no matter). Accordingly, all indicators and recommendations based on GPS measurements are not true, because they are based on false data.

And I understand that this is all because of the new chip from Sony.

Ok, I solved the problem with a false heart rate by buying HRM-Run! Ok, I solved the problem with false sleep (which I manually fix every morning). But I can not do anything with the recording curve of the GPS track: during the run I FLY from one sides of the six-lane highway to its other side. Accordingly, my pace is false and everything else!

Some advise turning the clock 90 degrees - to always look at the sky and see more satellites, some advise not to move your hand, but these are terrible tips!

How can elite (and expensive) sports watches be so stupid and not cope with their basic functions?

I think that Garmin engineers should recognize the real problem and propose an alternative mode for those who want to have an accurate GPS track and ready for a loss of charge: “recording mode with a frequency of twice a second” or “increased power mode for the antenna”, but what we have now is a complete disaster!

Once again: now Phoenix 6 is not for running!

Maybe your "Phoenix 6" is not for running, but my fenix 6x pro is for running.

GPS is marginally better than my older fenix 3, a lot better than my old fenix 5x.

I find the Sony chipset much better.

  • I know you've had a lot of issues and I feel bad that you have them.  I just wanted to chime in here to give you my setup and to say that I'm having no problems with on 4.20.

    Connected:

    • HRM-Run (although I am finding my OHR to be working just as well, I do like the respiration rate so I usually use the strap)
    • Tempe
    • RD Pod (although I have not actually tried it on a run yet, but it does connect)
    • Stryd (connected as a foot pod and a power meter)
    • Aftershokz Trekz Air headphones (work perfectly)
    • Aftershokz Aeropex (work great, but the volume + button on the headphones doesn't work.  Known problem that I have contacted Aftershokz about)
    • Samsung Galaxy Buds (work great)

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+ with the current version of Connect Mobile.  My 6S sapphire never loses connection to my phone and it syncs all day.  Activities sync immediately.  The volume control on the Garmin is fixed now too and my music syncs perfectly with Amazon Music and Spotify.

I sure don't want you to update because of my experience and then nothing works again.  But I just wanted to mention it all and you can make your decision, but everything just works for me with my setup above. Good luck!

  • I think garmin makes no secret of the fenix6 having it's primary focus to be an outdoor watch. While you can run perfectly fine with the f6 it's not a dedicated running watch such as the forerunner range.

  • Once again: now Phoenix 6 is not for running!

Phew! Thanks heavens I have a Fénix 6 that works perfectly well. I suggested you return your Phoenix 6 from whence you bought it and by a Fénix 6 from an authorised supplier.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I love my F6 Pro for running. No issues at all. Yours must be a faulty device.

  • I think it has all the same features as any of the forerunners, doesn't it?

I thought the only difference is that the Fenix is more ruggedly built, and has additional features that many of the forerunners don't have.

It's a little heavier, so I suppose that's a downside, but I can't think of any other reason why fenix 6 is any less of a running watch than forerunner.

  • Total Rubbish

Use it for running everyday, run in a mix of city and countryside. GPS track is not perfect, no wrist based devices are, but it tracks very close to actual path taken.

  • o...k... so should I turn my self to the police or something because I use it for running quite often, just like I used the F5+, F5, F3HR, F3 and F2 before it

  • I think im having problem with mine GPS track, im not really sure... I hade before a lot of Garmin devices latest ones FR 935 and 945, Fenix 5 and 5+ and my GPS track of my Fenix 6 pro DLC is a bit off if i compare my FR945 or 935.

So i would like to see some "good tracks" or like some people says "perfect track" zoomed to maximum or even better if you can provide a link to your Garmin activity...

Here is my latest run Fenix 6 PRO DLC

Here is my girlfriends Fenix 6s PRO

Feel free to go back in time and compare my runs.... i even changed watches with here for a run to see if it made any changes because im taller then her but it didnt matter.
