FENIX 6 IS NOT FOR RUNNING!

Write on the box in capital letters: FENIX 6 IS NOT FOR RUNNING!

It can be a good watch for hiking (when positioning once an hour), it can be a good watch for a bicycle (when they constantly look at the sky), but it is a terrible watch for running. GPS track is not accurate and not true (only GPS, GPS+GLONASS or GPS+GALLILOE – no matter). Accordingly, all indicators and recommendations based on GPS measurements are not true, because they are based on false data.

And I understand that this is all because of the new chip from Sony.

Ok, I solved the problem with a false heart rate by buying HRM-Run! Ok, I solved the problem with false sleep (which I manually fix every morning). But I can not do anything with the recording curve of the GPS track: during the run I FLY from one sides of the six-lane highway to its other side. Accordingly, my pace is false and everything else!

Some advise turning the clock 90 degrees - to always look at the sky and see more satellites, some advise not to move your hand, but these are terrible tips!

How can elite (and expensive) sports watches be so stupid and not cope with their basic functions?

I think that Garmin engineers should recognize the real problem and propose an alternative mode for those who want to have an accurate GPS track and ready for a loss of charge: “recording mode with a frequency of twice a second” or “increased power mode for the antenna”, but what we have now is a complete disaster!

Once again: now Phoenix 6 is not for running!

  • Okay, I read your reviews how much you all love phoenix6, but I still don't understand - why? Behind a curve track and wrong indicators?

Had a test: jogging in ideal conditions - an open stadium, without trees, without houses (to the nearest lonely nine-story building 150-200 meters, the gray box next to the track is an open-air tribune).

There are no high-voltage power lines nearby, no trees.

I’m running 10 laps, each exactly 400 meters. It’s nine in the evening, i am alone at the stadium.

Clock on the right hand, only gps, every second recording.

In my left hand I squeeze the Samsung s8 with the running native sHealth program, I did not set any additional settings-permissions-optimizers.

Result: I ran exactly 4 km (10 laps of 400 meters each), the Samsung draws a more or less beautiful track, writes 4.04 km - mistake 1%.

But the super-duper elite sports highly specialized device of the latest generation draws a damn track and writes 3.7 km ... Mistake 10%. Misses almost one lap! Out of ten !!

    WTF Garmin, wtf?

How can one then believe in tempo indicators and everything else? 10 percent error in the distance !!

Agree, this is an abnormal situation ...

Again: Fenix6 can be for hiking, maybe for a bicycle, but certainly not for running!

  • Nobody is saying that you are not having a problem with your GPS.  In fact, I told you that if my Garmin was acting that badly I would have exchanged it.  Your post infers that the Fenix 6 is garbage for running and that is just not true.  MY Fenix 6 is working perfectly.  YOUR Fenix 6 seems to not be working perfectly.  So exchange it for another.  Have you contacted Garmin yet or are you just complaining here because Garmin won't help you here.  This is mostly just a users forum.

  • This is mostly just a users forum.

i know this is a user forum. I write to them. I do not complain, but want to protect them from my mistakes. I warn them not to expect the most expensive device of the best features

  • But that's where your post is way over the top.  People CAN expect this Garmin to have the best features, because it does, and for most people it works perfectly.  You are having a problem with yours.  Ok, so just return it and get another one, or don't get another one.  It's your choice.  But to tell people that it is not for running is just ridiculous.  Do you have any idea how many of these watches they sell?  I don't, but it's a LOT.  And a handful of them might have a problem.  That's normal for a large production device like a Garmin.  It doesn't mean that every Fenix 6 is not for running.  Goodness, we believe you, your watch is defective.  You don't need to keep trying to prove it, or warning people not to buy it.  Just get another one.

  • My tire went flat on my drive to work this morning.

My conclusion from that: ALL TOYOTA CAMRYS ARE NOT FOR DRIVING! And that should be clearly printed on the roof of every single one of them that they sell!!! And I'm going to write an 8 paragraph long sh**post on the Toyota forums to tell everyone in the world to avoid them!

I was 30 minutes late to work today because of it, and guess what??? Yesterday when I drove my Ford mustang, I didn't have any flat tires.

"Clearly that tire had an issue, go get a new tire," you say??? That's ridiculous. It's better if I just try to keep people from buying toyota camrys.

  • You can run without watch, what I guess is why this topic has 35 replies. Have just posted a thread of missing features or bugs, hope it haves some attention from anybody to help that Garmin have a look and solve the issues, instead of absurd discussions.

Users please help to get the best soft updates instead of feed the troll

     Thank you

  • My experience of using the Fenix 6S Sapphire for a couple of months of running is that some days GPS tracks are really good, other days they are average or poor. Tracks during forest runs aren't very good, then again no GPS watch is perfect in this regard. A lot of it depends on how many satellites are overhead and what mode you're on. If you really want to scrutinise the GPS performance then take part in a race and compare tracks from other runners on Strava side by side. You’ll find that most watches aren’t perfect by any means.

As a general sports watch I think it's great and it's very well made. But I definitely wouldn't want the larger 6 or 6X for running as they are too bulky and heavy (and I have a small wrist).

Personally I do not regret upgrading from the 645. The altimeter in particular is much, much more accurate thanks to the built in maps.
