Garmin is killing me. Now Garmin Connect won't sync properly

Ok.  First.

Fresh install of Garmin Connect on iPhone X running 13.1.3

Reset Fenix 6X Pro and set up, running Software 3.00 (I will not update because current versions have big problems)

About 2 days ago Garmin Connect updated, now the watch shows connected, appears to sync, but it's not really syncing.  It's like randomly skipping activities.  It got my Run, My Lap Swim, but skipped my Yoga/Aqua Fitness activity.

The ONLY way I can see that there is an underlying problem is if I choose device in Garmin Connect, only there do I see the red Exclamation mark.  I can tell the watch isn't connecting because I cannot truly edit things.  If I go back to the Home screen in Garmin Connect, it still shows connected and appears to sync.

I'm really considering just ditching the whole idea of owning this awesome watch, because the software problems are just TOO MUCH.

For me, who cares if I have to charge every other day or so.  I just want something fairly accurate, and works.

I'm hoping someone here has an answer for me to fix this problem  Disappointed

I've emailed support already  FYI, but they haven't helped me on a problem in over a month, since my previous watch and 4.1 update.

You're best bet is to return to the GCM for iOS forum and hope for a solution there as this is a problem with that update and not the F6 specifically.  I go through this quite often with Android updates and the only solution is to revert back to the last GCM version.  I know it's not much help, but it may be the only alternative right now.

  • Actually that was quite helpful.  It's the top thread in the iOS forum as a lot of people with the same problem.  As soon as my backup of my watch is complete, i'm going to try this.

    1. In Bluetooth remove the watch
    2. In Garmin Connect remove the watch
    3. Uninstall Garmin Connect
    4. Restart Watch and Restart Phone
    5. Install Garmin Connect and set up again

According to support, that should work, but we will see.  It's a phantom problem, you don't know you have the problem till, you know you have the problem.   lol.

I've had the same syncing issue before.  The bigger problem for me is losing text messages and phone calls.  I've tried doing what you've listed with no success.  I find myself searching the web for the last GCM version and installing that for it to work again.  My current version is working so far, and I've made a habit of backing the latest version in case the newest one acts up again.  Hopefully you'll have better luck.  Sometimes the update just doesn't play well with a specific phone.  My wife and I share a Verizon account.  She has a Samsung phone and I have a LG.  After one Android update, I wasn't able to sync my watch on my phone, but when I set my watch up on my wife's phone, it worked.  I remember waiting almost two months before another GCM update was available before it worked on my LG again.

  • I’m in the process of trying it now.  We will see. I really appreciate your replies and help.  It gives me some direction.   If this doesn’t work, back to my Apple Watch AGAIN.   Seems I keep having to resort back as Garmin keeps introducing problems.  Wish Apple would create a watch like the Fenix.   That just works.

  • I’m experiencing the same issue and noticed it today. I also experienced heart rate is very inaccurate since the 4.2 updated, come on Garmin please get the basic features working.

  • Nope, didn't work.  Watch shows connected, Phone shows connected, watch appears to sync, but it doesn't really.  when viewing the device in Garmin Connect, it just shows the red exclamation point.

Off my wrist and back into my dresser drawer for a week.  If no resolution, then I'm returning it.  Enough is enough.  I never remember having problems like this back when I had my Fenix 3HR.

This has been a really bad experience for me.  First the 4.1 update that broke so much.  Returned that watch and kept this replacement at 3.0.  Was working PERFECT until Garmin Connect updated 2 days ago.  Now even 3.0 can't keep things working right.

    I'm so Frustrated!

  • I’ve got the same problem since the release of Connect this week. I am using a developer beta of iOS and whilst I have had no issues for the last few weeks it’s possible it’s an issue with GC on the beta iOS. Sync works fine via cable. Are you on RELEASE version of iOS?

  • Same issue here with 6x, I cannot sync at with the phone after the latest Garmin Connect update 2 days ago. Weather updates stopped as well. I'm glad I have WiFi on the watch because I can sync using that. I have owned 4 Garmin watches the past 4 years but have never ever been so disappointed by a release such as the latest 6 series.

  • Hi bfinary.  I always run the release version.  I'm on latest official update of 13.1.3.

  • Why don't you just sync via Wi-Fi till connect gets an update or iOS gets an update.    Its not the watch it's the phone and iOS.
