Exactly. I think attempting to polish the scratch out should only be an absolute last resort, after everything else has failed. There's too much risk that you could make the problem worse, or even create new problems. For example, that tiny piece of glass with a raised metal bezel around it will be incredibly difficult to polish without accidentally also polishing the finish off your metal bezel.
Also have in mind that gorilla glass has coatings to reduce reflections and fingerprints. If you police it, I think that you will damage the screen in a way that you will have a foggy screen.
Also think about how a screen protector may effect the solar functionality.
It seems like it would, and even Garmin has said it would... but everyone who's using screen protectors has reported that it had negligible effect on the solar function.
As a solar user with a glass screen protector on, I can verify that it has no measurable effects, hence my suggestion (look at my prior posts where I put up screenshots)
Which protector do you recommand?
So, I use these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07FDNFPLT
They work perfectly on my 6x solar, perfect coverage, and no solar disruption that I can see. But anything sized to cover the FR935 glass SHOULD work just fine
As Raul77 suggested, a screen protector should make it much less noticeable. The adhesive will sorta leech down into the scratch and fill it up. It'll also prevent that from happening again.
I have to say that putting a screen protector on the remove scratches is excellent and correct advice. Bought a used Forerunner 745 which arrived scratched (not shown on pictures from seller), was quite disappointed. Saw this thread and bought a PanzerGlass screen protector - the scratches are now completely invisible and I also quite like the round screen edge the protector gives.
