Cannot pair Foot Pod to my new 6s Pro - works fine on my old 5s

I am unable to pair my new foot pod to my 6s Pro. However, the pod easily pairs to my old 5s.

Also, others sensors (like my tempe, cadence) pair fine with my new 6s Pro, just the foot pod will not pair. So ANT+ is working in general on the new watch.

I am fairly certain am doing everything right (activating the pod by walking around/ moving it, new battery, no other sensors near so they could interfere).

Anyone else having the same issue (or even a solution)?

  • That is unusual. Is the foot pod mounted on a shoe and are you walking around with the shoes on while trying to pair? Is the 6s Pro on the latest firmware? Have you tried restarting the watch before trying to connect the foot pod again? I wish I had a definitive solution for you, but I can at least share that my Fenix 6 Pro on 4.10 with Sensor Hub 2.50 connects to my HRM-Dual, Tempe, and foot pod via ANT+ without issue.

  • Yep, everything is up to date, have restarted the watch a number of times, foot pod has been activated. I find it really weird as well - especially since other sensors work on the 6s - and the foot pod itself works on another Fenix 5s. Really strange...

  • I'm trying to think of other options... are you pairing using the "Search All Sensors" menu item or the "Foot Pod" menu item? I don't know that it would make a difference, but I always use the menu item specific to the accessory I am trying to pair. Also, have you looked through the paired sensors list to see if it perhaps did pair even though it seems like it hasn't?

  • Yes, done all that. Actually went through every single category of sensors, in case it was somehow associated with another category. No joy either. And no, it's not paired already.

I appreciate the thoughts Ian - seems like a weird problem...

  • Definitely an odd one. These foot pods are so old, I wonder if it's possible the one you have is a revision that for whatever reason is incompatible with the Fenix 6? I suppose the next step would be to contact Garmin if you haven't already done so. Good luck.

  • Maybe what I said is useless, but did you try to disconnect the foot pod on your fenix 5 before pairing with the 6? The Bluetooth was not supposed to connect outside a activity, but maybe the fenix 5 get the connection before you have time to pair it with the 6...something similar happen when I try to pair my polar H10, my threadmill was turned off, but not really. It always get the connection on my H10 before I could pair it.

  • Ben, were you ever able to get it to work, before the update to 4.1?

  • I didnt try it on the original firmware. Downgrading down from 4.1 is pretty much the only thing I havent tried.

And yes, I made sure it was disconnected from the 5s before attempting to pair it with the 6s. The test with the 5s was really only to see if the pod itself was maybe faulty.

I think I am going to leave it at that for now, spent way too much time on that. Maybe the next firmware update will solve it, seems like a weird in-compatibility.

  • Yeah, I returned my watch for a new one and didn't do the update.  My gear all connects great.  When I had 4.1 on the other watch, nothing stayed connected.  They should have this mess fixed soon enough, it's too much of a show stopper to leave it as it is.

  • I tried to pair my foot pod today with Fenix 6X pro FW 4.11, works without any problem. Also connecte the temp sensor and HR run at the same time.
