As the title. I have no theme set. Happens regardless of the map I try and use. If I switch to ‘popularity’ then then the background is white as I’d expect. Anyone else seeing this?

Guys, here's the solution. Press and hold the light button until the unit turns off. Turn on and go to settings. time and synchronize time. The color of the map should be white again.
Jesus christ people... I get it, there are people from all over the world on this forum... but when a thread is entirely made of english-speaking posts, why would you write a post in some different language…
Doing the suggested reset seems to have worked. I’ll flag this as an answer although don’t really think it’s a good one as we shouldn’t have to do factory resets of the watch!
I…
I’ve seen the black background on my watch too. I assumed it was night mode as it seems to have a white background during the day and black at night.
I've seen this too, but during the day. I restarted the watch, and it seems to be ok now. I suspect that sunset/sunrise time got screwed up.
That would make sense, don’t understand where that data comes from though. The stock watch faces do seem to have the right data for sunrise/set, and regardless of time of day the maps still have a black background.
I’ve tried a soft reset, really want to avoid a hard reset...
I have this issue as well. No theme selected, but the map background is dark grey (not black). This is not affected by time of day, it is always grey. I have to switch the map theme to high contract to get the white background back. Very annoying.

Anyone else having these problems?
The time on my watch is correct and I use GPS for the runs themselves (and map navigation) so not sure that’s the issue...
Mine too had GPS fix. However, it was a day or two after I flew from Hong Kong to Ireland. Its possible that sunset/sunrise time got stuck on HK time.
Had the same. I think to get the white background, you have to select 'high contrast' in the map settings.
