What is "smart" in the Smart notifications?

Can someone please explain what the "Smart" feature is in the "Smart notifications"?

I can choose between the following options:

- Off

- Calls

- Calls and Textmessages

- All

If it would have been truly "smart" then you should be able to customise this a bit more I think. You should if selecting "All" be able to choose what applications that should be included.

As an example; I don't want notifications about new e-mail (I do get hundreds of e-mails on a daily basis) but do want notifications from a lot of other phone applications. Today this is not possible to configure and if you get a lot of e-mails during the day this can become rather frustrating with a more or less constant vibrating watch.. As I get to many e-mail notification I have reverted to "Calls and Textmessages" but then miss out on notifications from a lot of other applications.

Did have a Samsung watch before and in that you could pick and choose what applications you wanted notifications from, a bit more "Smart" compared to Garmins implementation.

Should have added that this is related to pairing the Watch with an iPhone.

It is much more limited on iPhone vs Android. More or less mirrors the phone no individual app access from GMC.

You can customize on iPhone by selecting which apps’ notifications show up in ‘Notification Center’ (you can find the toggle in the ‘Notifications’ settings for each app). So if you don’t want email notifications, just disable ‘Notification Center’). Works fine for me

Will look into your suggestion, but guess that then I don't get the Notification neither on the Phone or Watch?

Do want the Notifications about emails on the iPhone, but not on the Watch

As long as you keep notifications turned on, you'll get them on your phone, they just won't show up in the "Notification Center"

If you have updated your phone to iOS13 then you could just set your notifications for email to “show previews” to never then you will not receive notifications on your watch but you will have them on your phone

I concur. I want my Fenix 6 to behave more like a 'watch', I don't want my watch to receive all these notifications passed from my phone. I want to just select "Calendar" reminders and nothing else. So to the point of @chborg, if I select 'All', I want to choose to receive calendar appointments/reminders and nothing else.
