Exterior pool swim - erroneous data

When doing pool swim outside, watch apparently includes some gps data. Resulting activity is problematic in Garmin Connect: the "next activity" button doesn't work. Very weird

    I am not sure what this means, and I'm also not sure how it could relate to GPS readings.

    Regarding your point about GPS and Outdoor Swimming, Yes, outdoor swimming turns on GPS and adds the GPS track to the .FIT file. If you don't want this function, then simply use the indoor swimming activity instead.

    GPS tracking in an outdoor swimming pool is not very accurate, because the GPS only gets a fix once in a while, because it can't get a GPS lock underwater. So you're not going to get good GPS datapoints very often. Therefore, when swimming laps in a pool (indoors or outdoors), you should probably use Indoor Swim.

    Outdoor/openwater swim activities are meant more for swimming in large bodies of water, where it's fine if you only occasionally get good GPS datapoints.

    There was no probrem in September.
    However, in October, the same problems occur in the pool swim mode.

    Though GPS cannot turn on/off in the pool swim mode, the resulting activity includes the position data with map and next/previous activity button on Garmin Connect does not work too.

    My feeling is that this is a Garmin Connect issue but I could be wrong. It seems that the last GPS location is being kept somewhere. For instance, the map location here is from a run that preceded the swim. The pool swim was at a different location some 50kms away. I have reported this to Garmin Connect.

    Same thing, the only way to move to the next activity is to choose from 'All Activities'.

    Doesn't affect the actual recorded data fortunately.

    Yes, it's being discussed in several other threads. For a couple of weeks some pool swims include maps.

    This issue has finally been fixed!?
    Today's swim activity on Garmin Connect Web seems correct.
