Fenix 6S Pro - Heart rate wildly incorrect

Just bought a 6S Pro yesterday and notice - as apparently many others - that the heart rate is way off base, very high at times and very laggy too. This compared to a Scosche sensor as well as an Apple Watch. Very disappointing to shell out this much cash and find out the thing just isn't working at all. The watch has all the latest updates, BTW. So, what to do?

So ... a Garmin support person tells me to "give it some time, it may take up to three weeks for the clock to get to know you" ...is that a thing, some kind of automatic adjustment to my personal skin type or other characteristics? Or am I being bs-ed here?

Well, it needs time to gather all the info to give proper feedback like vo2max, trainingsload etc. Ohr, does not depend on this, so yes you are bs-ed in my opinion. However, they will come up with new sw releases and that will take time. The discussion what follows is of course whether the watch was mature enough to release. I think that depends in the use case...

Not a single metric shows useful information since all is based on the WHR. What a shame. Seriously considering to return the unit and survive with my Gear S3 for now.

@anders this Garmin support excuse is horrible... "give it some time for out team to look into the mess they are doing"most likely. Any 10 buck activity tracker shows correct WHR right out of the box, I know cause I have a few at home my kids are using and all of them show pretty close heart rate numbers. What a shame Garmin support coming with that line as if the customers are dump.

I had to power off and power on fenix because when I started a run workout the heart rate was too high ( >190) . Power on/off fixed it but why?

Yeah ... I never believed this explanation, and can say after a couple of months the heart rate sensing is still very unreliable. I've tried to use it on bike commutes to work and I experience different problems; pulse rate too high or too low, sometimes really low. Sometimes I can get it to sort of work again if I reposition the watch but I can't find a way of wearing the watch that gives me a reading I can trust. I'm not using it anymore; thought I'd wait for an update that - hopefully - improves the readings, but until then I'll use other sensors.
