I had same problem byt today my fenix6x pro got software 4.10 (old 4.0) and when a did try the sync with spotify again it works.
Connected to Carmin Connect on Iphone and WIFI

I have to be right in the room with my router for sync to work, both with Spotify and Amazon.  If I am a couple rooms away I have difficulty.  How far away from your wifi router are you?  You also need to have at least 50% battery or you need to plug it into a charger.

Again, similar to your WiFi issues, mine works perfectly.

Considering you’re having issues with WiFi connectivity too, is this not part of the issue?

Spotify has sync’d quickly and perfectly every time for me. But I also have fully working WiFi connectivity too.

The connectivity on the Fenix isn’t crap. It’s either that you have a faulty unit or you’re doing something wrong because the vast majority don’t have the WiFi issue or Spotify issue that you report. 

I get the same problem. If I am lucky, I get the Syncing Spotify screen, but it stays at 0% and eventually, I get the sync failed screen.

Works perfectly. Maybe this is related to your wifi router/hotspot?

Very generic BT home hub....nit hidden, standard security etc etc
