Yoga - custom workout, no videos?

After the latest software update the new yoga workouts work well with the pose animations. Tried to create my own workout though and the animations aren’t showing, just the title.

what am I missing?

thx

  • I have the same issue I don't see the video on my in the watch garmin fenix 6x PRO on the web or mobile version app.

To create a workout it is very difficult because it is a very poor interface,  we can't see the video mobile or in the web connections, sometimes is visible in the  watch

  • I have pro and I don't see video, animation and I have option ON

  • It is a built in workout or a custom one you have created with the workout editor? As far as I know, videos are only available for the built in workouts, not your custom ones (and yes, as it is now for many users this feature is pretty much useless; I feel it is there mostly for marketing pictures and a quick demo for clients, but it is not really practical.)

  • a) because the feature cannot be used with your own custom workouts, just with the ones that gives you Garmin. I asume many if not most users expected to be able to create custom workouts when the feature was announced.

    b) because the video is shown AFTER 5 seconds or so after showing the text of the exercise you have to do. So either you know the exercise by name (in which case the video is not that useful), or you have to wait to see the video instead of doing the exercise, because in a lot exercises you will have to move your arms and will not be able to see the screen. Add to this the fact that in some activities, like yoga, exercises last about 15 seconds. Believe me, I tried to follow some workouts and it was maddening.

Therefore I think it is really not practical  to have the screen with a video playing in your wrist (I already said "for many users", as there may be some people that indeed use the feature.) It would make much more sense if you could follow your workout on your phone or at least have the option to do so. I used both Fitstar and Fitstar Yoga years ago, before they were bought by Fitbit, and that was a much more usable platform. But I am afraid one reason Garmin does not go that route is that then they would have no excuse to limit this feature to certain, more premium watches.

  • I might be a little bit of a different use case but for me it is very practical. I can't have my phone at work but I like to follow a structured plan I don't have written on a piece of paper. I also, am not very good at yoga so I don't remember what I'm supposed to do half the time if I just write it down. Also, the 5 second delay is irritating, but I just have gotten in the habit of holding the pose 5 seconds longer and then switching. Honestly, I love the animated workouts, but like I said, I'm a bit of a different use case. They give me a reason to leave my desk once in a while and do yoga in the shower room. I do wish there was customization for when I get more advanced to have the workout videos, but maybe by that point just having the name pop up will suffice and I'll know the movements.

  • I've taken a copy of the Garmin workout and substituted the exercises(yoga poses) I want for those in the workout and got the animations that way.  Then I just change the name of the workout.
