Treadmill Calibration Issues - Fenix 6x

Anyone have any idea on how to get the Fenix 6x anywhere close to accurate on a treadmill.  I have done several outdoor runs with GPS at 8-10 min miles for 5 or more miles.   I have calibrated and saved every run on the treadmill.  The treadmill run is still showing no faster that 18 min mile while in reality the runs are never slower than 10 min mile.  A two hour run was over 6 miles off.  I don't expect a watch to be perfect indoors but this is not even close.  A Fitbit at less than $100 bucks does much better.  Any ideas?

I accidentally keyed in the wrong distance on my first treadmill run and now I am not receiving an option to recalibrate after my recent runs. Does anyone know how to distance to recalibrate the treadmill setting?

  • From the Fenix 6 owners manual:

    1. Calibrating the Treadmill Distance

To record more accurate distances for your treadmill runs, you can calibrate the treadmill distance after you run at least 1.5 km (1 mi.) on a treadmill. If you use different treadmills, you can manually calibrate the treadmill distance on each treadmill or after each run.

      1. 1  Start a treadmill activity (Starting an Activity, page 2), and run at least 1.5 km (1 mi.) on the treadmill.

      2. 2  After you complete your run, select  ^ .

      3. 3  Select an option:

        • To calibrate the treadmill distance the first time, select Save.

The device prompts you to complete the treadmill calibration.

        • To manually calibrate the treadmill distance after the first- time calibration, select Calibrate & Save > Yes.

  • The option to calibrate has never shown up, I run about 10 miles a day on a treadmill.

  • My Fenix 6 Sapphire never shows the Calibrate option also.

  • Everytime I run on a treadmill I calibrate my fenix 6x pro solar but something goes wrong. The next time I run the treadmill records 4kms and the watch 1.5km. On my fenix 5x when I calibrate the next time it records the exact same distance as the treadmill. I think something goes wrong with the calibration. I run 2 times per week around 4km and calibrate the 6x pro solar and everytime the next time it records only 1.5km instead of 4km...

I hope a next uodate fixes this...

  • I calibrated my 6X after every single treadmill run and it accomplished nothing. No change in distance calculations at all. So if yours isn’t giving the option I’d say your not missing much.

  • All it really does it records the distance in Garmin Connect. However the activity itself is not changed and has the old uncalibrated distance if exported or imported into, say, strava.

It also does NOTHING to help calibration for next time. It is a completely useless function.

I use a footpod and someone said, well, it's not used with footpods, as these are calibrated differently. My daughter does not use footpods and hers is also not calibrated.

Let me say this again, I believe that the function does not work and only adjusts the total for the current treadmill run, only.

  • wow, i thoight this issue only happen with 945. need fw team to expedite if this is know issue

  • And how would you use your watch with the foot pod? Mine is currently set like this:

    • Speed: Always
    • Distance: Only Indoors

Is that the recopmmended setting - what do you use?
