Spotify and Music experience vs Fenix 5 Plus

How’s the music and spotify experience in Fenix 6 Pro, any better than in the Fenix 5 Plus? I’m talking about reliable playback, the F5+ usually gets cut choppy audio when listening during the begging of an activity, I assume it isn’t powerful enough to start an activity and play music at the same time, it eventually stabilises itself but it is annoying, Do you notice any improvement?

Also, how’s are the music controls from your phone? in the F5+  you usually have to keep opening Spotify on you phone even when it was already playing on it for the watch to detect it, any difference there?

Thank you.

  • Much better than the Fenix 5 Plus in my experience. It just works with the true wireless buds I own (Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless)

  • Hi thank you for your response, did it not used to work on the F5+ ?

  • I don't see any difference from 5plus or 6. I don't have any issue "get cut choppy audio" as you said. Probably your Bluetooth headphone issue. I use B&O E8 2.0 Bluetooth 4.2 and Sennheiser Momentum Bluetooth 5.0 without any problem. It only I notice the mp3 sound quality in the watch does not seem supper when I listen via my iPhone. I am an audiophile.

  • I ended up buying the Fenix 6 after all, and the difference is night and day, same headphones (Jaybird Run) and whilst before at the gym it will always get choppy for the first 10 mins with the F5+ the F6 just works, not one time did it get cut off or had any interference, also I don’t get the unreliable music controls for the phone, it also just works. Another thing is that when adding playlists to Spotify, the list of playlists loads so much faster, almost instantaneous, whilst it was a long wait to load them on the F5+, same wifi, same phone, nothing has changed other than the watch. I’m pretty content with my purchase.

I can assure you that it is isnt. I experience the same thing with the 5+; I'll also experience choppy audio when starting a workout and at times when moving to the next set when undertaking a structured training session.

  • Weird Joel. I had 5+ and now has 6S Sapphire without any problem when I work out or running.

  • With my 5x plus it depends on which headphones I use..... With the Bluetooth BS19's I get no volume control... and they periodically cut out for a brief moment occasionally...not really any use as always on full volume!..

With my Roam headphones... there is no dropouts at all.... and I've full volume control....perfect.

I also get different volume controls on the watch... with other paired headphones and speakers.... Cool.

I think a lot of this can be down to the different headphones we use......also headphones that worked great before an update.....might not work as well after an "improvement" software update....who knows.. so many variables. : - )

  • I didn’t have many problems with the 5+ but it was on different headphones.  With the MARQ I Had all kinds of problems, mostly it would chop/drop with my arm at my side.

The 6X has been fairly solid, although it seems like there’s been more problems after I installed the last update.  I’ve had difficulty with Bluetooth in general, having to restart my watch sometimes to connect via Bluetooth.  Running with PowerBeats pro wireless and there haven’t been any drops like the MARQ.

So, certainly better than the MARQ, and probably OK depending on the last update.

As far as Spotify, it’s still terrible for what I use it for: podcasts.

Up to now with version 11 on my Fenix 5s+, the audio is still choppy. Even with no activity, just a slow walk, the sound is broken quite frequently. This is really annoying for a price of $500+.
