Sleep detection outside of GC predefined sleep hours

My Fenix 6 Saphire records good(or very good) the sleep data during the GC predefined hours.

But, outside of those hours it has no idea when I sleep. Why do we have this behavior? I would like to have all the sleep time counted, even if I do not often have sleep in the afternoon.

Did someone managed to have this done?

Yes, make sense. In this case, sleep tracking Samsung GW and Apple watch they are the best. Where Samsung GW sensors sleep forever earlier then expected.

I hope the devs hear this and add it to the next update. If Samsung can make it, Garmin should be able to do it better

  • Sleep tracking is not good. I have more deep sleep in front of TV than whole night where i really sleep. Every Samsung or Apple watch is better than Garmins watches. I hope they do something about it soon.

  • Yes they need more software logic implement.  Firstbeat sleep detection sounds sound , pulling in lots of metrics https://www.firstbeat.com/en/consumer-feature/sleep-detection/

    But no mention of naps.

Also,  if it bases on hr and hrv, as many of us find irregular hr outside of activity (for many argued reasons) sleep metrics are garbage.

It's been a hit or miss in my imperical observations.

Nap tracking should be included and i suggested it to Garmin.  Even if it was manual tracking.  There are times where i sleep in naps vs full night sleep.  And so does the military in certain situations.

Scenario case: your sleep patterns constantly change.  Your sleep changes from night time to day time.

Anyway... i digressed. All im saying,  I'm with you on this.

Agree with everyone.  I do shift work and my sleep schedule is constantly changing.  My previous fitbit had no difficulty recognizing when I am asleep and tracking that period of time and had no need to manually enter my sleep times.  Hopefully Garmin recognizes this and provides an update soon to resolve this issue!

  • I'm coming from a Fitbit to Fenix and this is driving me crazy. I loved how accurate even a cheap Fitbit was at sleep tracking and picking up naps.. I'm fine with the overnight sleep tracking on my Fenix. But how in the world can an $800 device not even do what five year old Fitbits that cost a fifth of the price do - track naps? It seems bonkers to me.

  • All I want is an app I can use "start sleep", and then "wake up". Even as a back-up. To help track.

I'll second this, I just started night shift and would like to know if the day sleep is quality without melatonin or if I need a supplement to maximize the limited sleep I am receiving. I guess I'll have to revert back to a fitbit. Crazy considering I can do everything else on my Garmin 6x. GARMIN please fix this!!!!!!! I really don't want to wear a Fitbit!!!
