Fenix 6 alert volume

I find the alert volume too quiet. This is a replacement for a Forerunner for me. I had no issues with the volume of the alert on that unit, but last night out running I missed lap notifications for my interval training - in spite of the vibration alert. I was running in central London - so the background noise is noticeable - but not previously an issue with the Forerunner.

I think the alert functionality has not been updated by Garmin in many years - it is the same as it was in an Edge 500. I posted years ago a suggestion (as did others) that Garmin allow a user to select different alert sounds and volume so that one can differentiate between alerts without having to look at the unit (watch/bike computer/etc) A simple enhancement with significant impact to to usability.

I've upgrade my Forerunner 945 for the Fenix 6X Saphire, and on my FR945 the voice was louder then the music... now I found that the voice alert prompt is TOO LOW !!! I barely hear what the girl said...

Ditto! Garmin please please please do something about this. If there is any road noise at all, I can’t hear the interval alerts. I would really like to be able to adjust volume (on the watch itself - not when connected to headphones, which I never use with my watch)

It seems like you guys are talking about 2 different things:

1) The voice alerts, which use your phone speaker.

2) The tone alerts, which come from your watch speaker.

For voice alert volume, this has nothing to do with your watch. If it's too quiet, turn up your phone volume.

For tone alerts, it's mostly quiet because of the nature of a waterproof and mostly solid metal watch body. It's very hard for the internal speaker to be loud. Cheaper garmin watches have a louder speaker because they are mostly plastic, so the sound from the internal speaker comes out better.

And the equally waterproof Apple Watch is able to have a loud enough speaker to have a phone conversation?

The AW is water resistant, it is not water proof. The Fenix 6 has a 10 ATM water rating, which means you can take it down to 100m

Thanks for the explanation C.sco - but my fenix 5 was a lot louder and it was waterproof and had a solid metal body - why could the fenix 6 not have the same volume? A real pity (but perhaps my ageing ears are no not hearing as good now)!
