F6X titanium DLC with sapphire

Seems there's no titanium DLC and sapphire combination for F6X. I personally don't like the color scheme of silver titanium case but am a big fan of the Gray DLC titanium case. Anyone know if a sapphire titanium gray DLC F6X is going to be available?

Not sure what country you’re in, but that combo is available in the U.S.

    this is not titanium either...

  • robert.kirr is right. This is stainless steel.

2 days ago the site said 6x solar dlc was titanium. On line chat Garmin rep confirmed. They don’t even know their own specs  Ha!

Sorry. I’m getting the 2 mixed up I’m my head. Ugh. Deleting my previous posts

  • Maybe I'm missing something, but what's the benefit of titanium w/ DLC versus 316 stainless w/ DLC? Seems like the latter would be infinitely more durable. I guess it does weigh more, though.. is that your concern?

I think it is about personal preference and the (lack of) opportunity to choose.

6X sapphire does not have a titanium model. only 6X Pro Solar Titanium (one DLC model and one non DLC) - both with gorilla glass

6 sapphire has titanium and steel models, DLC or not.

I like titanium in watches (and carbon fiber in bike over aluminium, and graphene in sunglasses... just me...)

    • fenix 6X Pro Solar titanium is 10% lighter than 6X steel - titanium is 40-50% lighter than steel but not all the watch is metal (the body is reinforced polymer)
    • has a warm feeling (in winter) compared to steel that feels cold (same is carbon fiber over aluminium in bike constructions)
    • titanium strength is far superior to steel but does not count too much in watches.
    • titanium is biocompatible, is skin-friendly, no alergies developed compared with steel, that can give allergies at some of his components Ni, Cr, Mo, etc.... especially that we sweat
    • titanium is softer then steel, either you accept the scratches or buy the DLC variant that has a hard microscopic layer.
    • titanium is self-healing, in time a thin oxide film is growing at the surface (not visible with naked eye) ...if scratched, the oxide will fill the gap again
    • titanium is more corrosion resistant to salt water, to the chemicals from a swimming poll, to the sweat.

DLC in both steel and titanium give that hard layer. the surface will survive to minor scratches...but at a big bump, the scratch will be deeper than the DLC layer and the bare metal will be visible.

usually bare steel or titanium, even more, prone to scratches, can be refurbished, a DLC surface no.

    just me...

  • It has Sapphire on the back as I guess that is the key marketing attribute. Garmin confirmed today that that my 6X Sapphire is indeed DLC coated Titanium. You can see this in the spec tab on the website.

  • Hi, i have the  010-02157-11 (fenix 6x sapphire). I can confirm thats not titanium. As its marked on the back, it‘s  316SS (stainless steel.

  • Please have a look at the spec tab of this model. It says steel. Also weight will show that its steel.
