What a disappointment. Still awaiting for Garmin to release a watch that I can use without having to bring my phone :(

Seriously, another „no LTE“ thread?
It's a sad world we live in now where people can't walk 10 feet away from their cell phone without experiencing stress and anxiety
And what use is a phone or a watch if you cannot connect to cellular services?
I guess we sometimes forget that the majority of Fenix buyers aren't purchasing the watch for multi-day treks…

First, they have. It’s the Vivoactive 3 Music that was introduced at CES ‘19. Second, I’d imagine if it was that heavy in demand, they’d would have introduced it in models after that, they have not...yet. If you need cellular, wear your AW on one wrist and your Fenix on the other.
Agreed. My anxiety is ‘what happens if I injure myself on a run and then left far from home’. My solution is to take my phone with on (trail) runs where I think there won’t be other people or presume a passer-by will be helpful if I’m running in populated areas.
I have an InReach Mini. Weighs almost nothing and better fall back than a phone.
Well, I have a minor heart issue, and bringing my phone is not always convenient or possible.
Garmin already have the safety thing wrapped up with its inReach Mini satellite communicator - https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/p/592606
Given that the Fenix 6 was designed with mountaineers, trekkers and adventurers in mind who are likely to be trekking in remote areas out of cell phone coverage, the above companion device is far more useful and it could save your life.
If you just want a mini iPhone on your wrist, then the Apple Watch 4 (or possibly 5 depending on what is announced later today) has your needs covered.

Indeed. The inReach Mini is my hiking and running companion when it comes to emergency comms and to allow the family to track my multis on the trails. It lasts for days without a charge and it's nice having that emergency comms functionality separated from the thing which is tracking my run and playing Spotify for obvious reasons.
It'd be nice to have the option of LTE on the watch, but it's not something I can rely on when out on the trails. We'll see if that changes when Elon's StarLink cluster is fully operational
And what use is a phone or a watch if you cannot connect to cellular services? When I go out into the back blocks I make sure I have the means to raise emergency services if needed.

I guess we sometimes forget that the majority of Fenix buyers aren't purchasing the watch for multi-day treks or trail runs, but rather for day walks, jogs, counting steps and for the aesthetics. They're the same ones that seem to complain about mushy buttons, the lack of LTE and dull screens without being able to appreciate the design tradeoffs needed in order to make a bombproof device that'll take you out into the wilderness and get you back alive.
I kinda wish Garmin would just produce an amoled Fenix with LTE and the clickiest buttons in the world to satiate these folks so that we can be left alone from these complaints :D
