Difference between ‘Run’ profile and ‘Trail Run’ profile.

Other than the Run profile adds performance condition to Garmin Connect and the trail run profile doesn’t are there any other differences?

Does trail run impact Vo2 readings like the run profile does?

Or is it a case if you’re expecting to run slower due to increased elevation etc so Vo2 remains unchanged?

    • Thanks Mcbadger. It's working well for me, I was just curious on the difference as I tend to select trail. I'm trying to push up the vo2 max and I'm battling a permanent unproductive status, and so definitely want to track it. I think for consistency I'll stick with trail as the preferred mode, interesting on the 3d distance though, I'm  worried I might be selling myself short on how far I'm running. Cheers, and best wishes.
  • Yup, the difference now is that you have the option to turn it off, as opposed to before when it was not possible to turn it on.

3D distance isn’t a big thing unless you have seriously steep slopes, 1 in 4 the whole way makes a 3% difference.

  • There is a setting in the watch to turn on/off v02 for trail running app.  No idea if it is new, as I just got my 6X and it updated to 19.20 immediately. Under settings/apps/trail run, it's called "record VO2 Max" and can be turned on or off.
