Fenix 6X GPS Comparison

Have a few watches currently so will be posting comparisons here of my daily runs in case anyone cares.

Out of the box, Fenix 6X Sapphire looks VERY good on my first run.

Unless otherwise posted, Vertix and F6 will be using GPS + GLONASS. F6 is set to 1 sec recording. Both will rotate between left wrist, hand. Plenty far apart to not interfere with each other.

Mine are from a sapphire version.

I'm doing a loop this weekend that is historically pretty tough on devices. Dense cover and some hills to deal with.

Will compare against the Vertix and Ambit 3 Peak…

No, that's Dimitrios Kanelloppulos from over at Suunto actually. Just a free tool that does a pretty good job comparing data sets. Wish I could pick my own colors as different shades of orange are pretty tough lol

That's my go to trail which is surprisingly pretty difficult on watches. Even the A3P struggles, so was happy to see the 6X results.

Thanks for the source on that. I wasn't sure to whom i'd be sending my .fit files if i uploaded them.

The comparison to the AP3 was actually what caught my attention. The 6x compared well to what is supposed to be a legend of GPS accuracy. I'm sure there will be other activities where it isn't as favorable, but at least we know the Sony chip can produce some excellent results.

Just took my first test walk with it during lunch. Set on GPS + Glonass.

It was pretty terrible, had me going through buildings, walked my across a street on a diagonal, except I cross the street a 100 yards later in a crosswalk and half the finish was right, except it had me across the street from where I stopped.

Very bad results for me too. Used device for hiking, running and cycling. Results are pretty useless. I have a 5x and Edge 1030 to compare with so I know what a proper GPS track should look like.

Strange to see such a variety in results. Wish I was a little bit more patient with my purchase...

I've had very good results vs. the Suunto 9 in a forested switchback area. The S9 did pretty bad in comparison and lost .07 mile of distance to the 6X over the half mile area that I compared (the most demanding).

Here's a run I did last night, the track is spot on. The part where it looks like I wondered off the sidewalk into the street actually is real, I was going around a dog walker.
