Should I swap 6 for 6X?

Never had a 6x before, but looking at all these posts for 6x has made me wonder if I should swap my 6 for a 6x. It is only 0.2mm thicker and 10g heavier. Has anyone made the jump from a 5 or 5+ to a 6x and have any concerns about the size or weight? I run, bike, hike, golf, ski and use the gym regularly. The screen size would be nice.

Anyone have any thoughts or better still some pictures of both the 6 or 5+ and the 6x on their wrist?

Thanks

  • I have a 935 currently and going to get the 6x non sapphire veriosn. Beside the screen and width being slightly bigger I dont think the size will be a problem.

  • I originally had a 5 and swapped it for a 5x. For me the maps, and sapphire glass were more than enough to offset the size. I had a friend that had a 5s and made the jump to the 5x for the same reasons. Today the 6 has maps and music available in that size so the differences are somewhat less. However, size wise, i think most people can or do get used to the difference.

  • I jumped to the 6X Pro and found it a little heavy, just enough to where I was aware of it on my wrist and it felt a tiny tiny bit top heavy with the side of the watch digging in a bit. Running it was mostly fine, maybe a little jiggly doing intervals.  That said I very skinny so you may find the weight is no problem.

I ended up exchanging for the 6X Solar. The weight drop wasn’t much on paper but it made all the difference. And hats off the Garmin for making these watches fit better, the 3 and the 5X were both absolutely unwearable for me.

    Good luck with your choice!

I made the jump from 5+ to 6X Solar. Didn't need the solar ability but I liked the lighter weight than the sapphire version. 6X Solar is even slightly lighter than 5+ but with a bigger screen size. Garmin improved the design and it sits very comfortably on my small wrist (6.5"). I wear it during night and i don't feel its presence more than the 5+. Hope this helps.

I just got my 6X Sapphire tonight after using the 935 for 2 years.  It feels heavier in the hand and on the wrist but I think I'll get used to it.  I'll be doing a 10k run in a couple days.

  • Same here. I use it for a 5 days now - super happy with it. Wish that Garmin had replacement policy old-for-new with copayment, ads are full of old Garmins these days, hard to sell the 935 now
