Wich models have auto lap time by position?

So Marq Driver seem to have this function, but does Fenix 6 models have it, or any other models? It would be good for motocross example. I had it on my old FR305, but later models are missing it and are they still missing it? So auto lap time by distance or time don't help on this and auto lap app does not record The data log.

Short answer: none (including driver)

as far as I know the driver only does this for the racing activity and only for the known racetracks in the watch. So for all practical matters it doesn’t do laps based on position

no other Garmin’s do this either... a pity really! I guess I understand why though, people keep moaning about gps all the time, so I’d limit gps-based precision things for now too

It never worked very well on the 305 and has not been on any watch that I’ve had since. I would not hold my breath waiting for it to reappear.

Well it was not certainly perfect on 305, but on some conditions and places it worked moderately. Same fuction was on 310 and 910 and I don't know if they were any better? Well I guess I'll be skipping new models guite a while waiting for that function and staying on my Fenix 5.

I had both, I mean 310xt and 910xt, and auto lap worked very well on both. Moreover my family still owns 2 910xt units, and both my wife and one of my sons enjoy this reliable function which was killed by Garmin for the newer watches.

I own a F5+ and it is restricted for a step of 0.05 km and 0.05 mile. If it happened that Garmin killed Auto lap by position from Fenixes it would be a small remedy to let users set a more precise distance. Presumably it will not hurt Garmin’s interest if I set 425 m or 710 m instead of 400/450m or 700/750m.

No models support it, but there are some Connect IQ apps which add this.

fbbrown https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/developer/4ca4351d-f24c-40e0-bc3e-b187972a7526/apps has an auto lap by position field - which only works for display live, doesn't record laps because of CIQ limitations on what a data field can do, apparently - and various apps including a running one and a motorsports one which do record laps into the FIT field AFAIK.

Might be worth a look for anyone still after this capability.

Hasn't changed from the 5 unfortunately.

Yep, I know them. And yes, if you want to see your gps based auto lap data written you have to use RunSafe+ app by Fbbbrown, but at the same time you have to forget your Stryd analysis, because it requires Stryd zones data field which is not choosable but this sort of third party apps.

I would be happy to use auto lap by distance, but my track is 520-525 m long.

As others have noted, the current watches have eliminated this feature. The bike computers still have it, though, so that might be a path you can take. I agree it would probably work acceptably on a motocross track. I used it on my Edge 520+ during a cyclocross race but due to the design and narrow paths on the course it would regularly trigger incorrectly so i stopped using it.
