  • The question is whether they'll fix all this bugs before they completely abandon updates for the Fenix7/Epix 2.

Judging by the way they have been opearating since end of 2023, it is not likely they will fix all the bugs. The most common answer to bugs and regressions is "it is working by design" even though there is clear and proven degradation of functionality.

They're already openly admitting that the fact that something is illegible is the company's intentional action and it's the users who have the problem: forums.garmin.com/.../1916832

And this is latest example of "by design" excuse Garmin uses over and over again.

  • I have no doubts, nor do I give it more chances... definitely looking forward to the COROS APEX AMOLED release.

  • The successor to Epix 2 is here -> Fenix 8 AMOLED

well, I got the official image of the Epix Pro, Gen 3 Innocent

    I kinda like it!

  • Hey Garmin I’ve bought two Epix watches and just got an instinct for a family member. What gives here?

  • This is extremely disappointing and short-sighted.

There’s a strong possibility that many Epix owners will choose not to upgrade to another Garmin device. Failing to support customers who have invested in your premium products sends a clear message—and it’s not a good one. These are your most loyal and high-value users, and yet they’re being overlooked.

Do you really believe this group will continue to buy Garmin products under these circumstances? It appears the company has shifted its focus toward short-term financial gains, prioritizing EBITDA over long-term customer trust. From InReach subscription changes to Connect+ to shortening product life cycles, this is a fast track to eroding brand loyalty.

Competitors will see this as an opportunity and fill the gap.

When it's time to replace my watch, bye Garmin.

  • Competitors will see this as an opportunity and fill the gap.

    I hope so.

However, just taking a quick shootout, it seems that while both coros and suunto have interesting offerings (maybe rather in a sportwatch and not the rugged but capable outdoor watch segment) they all suffer serious issues with reliability and feature/bug side as well). I would not get Apple into the picture now.

So yes, there is a reason why garmin can have the luxury for this cashgrab. And honestly, they are doing this for long years now...

...and we are still waiting for a competition.

  • FYI. No longer working as a gym/strength watch.

I've tried creating more strength workouts, editing them, send to watch, then sync watch. nothing happens.

It doesn't even do the fitness...

  • To make things worse, Garmin is still selling the Epix Pro on its website. It's deceptive to keep selling a device that they dropped and won't even fix old bugs or those reported in the beta program.

Let's not even talking about the Fenix E, which is the standard Epix with a different name. The Fenix E shows it was a decision to abandon the Epix and Fenix 7. They're trying to charge for the updates and new software without having to change the hardware. I've been using Garmin devices since the Fenix 3 HR and I've never seen such a poor release or dropping a flagship device so quick. I'm so disappointed, to say the least.

  • That's why I am waiting for both Apple and Whoop to see what they are going to offer and I am off from Garmin. I cannot fathom how my less than two year old Epix 2 Pro has stopped receiving new SOFTWARE updates by the time Fenix 8 got released. I am already missing my trusted Apple Watch that still receives updates after 5 years, let alone the latest updates from Apple to include Sleep Apnoea, etc.
