I'm sure someone will rush in here before long and defend Garmin's decisions on these updates.
Crazy that the Fenix E receives all those features and the Fenix 7/Epix Pro versions don't. Garmin being Garmin.
Here's my theory: the "totally new UI / system" of the Fenix 8 is basically the same as the Venu 3 and newer Forerunners. In the past, when asked why the Venu 3 had a much nicer and smoother…
Amazing, I bought last week a new Epix Gen2 Pro. I wanted to write as first comment how much I was happy with the watch, the improvement over my 935. Instead I’m writing for complaining about my new legacy watch :)
The watch is currently sold on Garmin Store for 949€, almost 3 times the price of a new Forerunner 955 that got all the features…
The fancy new features of the Fenix 8 do not justify the cost, most common people are not diving but lots are running and want a running watch having sapphire glass.
I will not update to a new model because my new premium device do not get new updates, but now I know that Apple is doing here much better with their premium customers.
If I was you I'd return the watch. Mine was bought too long ago to return.
I thought by buying an Epix I was guaranteed to have every single update ever released for every Garmin device now and forever into the future.
For example, I don't understand why my Epix doesn't have the primary electronic attitude display from the Garmin G5.
I'm never buying another Garmin product.
The Epix doesn't have the primary electronic altitude display from the G5, but for some reason the Forerunner 255 does.

Dang, I knew I should have bought that one. I'm going to go with the Apple Watch, because I like the idea of having to charge it every 18 hours instead of the 31 days I get from my Epix Pro. I also like that it doesn't really work with my Android phone.
Dang indeed. Are you planning to return it?
No, I figure I'll keep it and just whine incessantly about how terrible it is.
In all seriousness though, I'm an electronics gadget junkie, and I have had dozens of Garmin devices over the years, including watches, bike computers, GPS units, inReach's, heart straps, varia radars, foot pods, scales and blood pressure monitors. Garmin has their faults, and sometimes their software development leaves something to be desired, but compared to other companies I have dealt with, their commitment to keeping their products up to date with software updates, new features and bug fixes is second to none. I could use any brand I wanted, and I am firmly and happily in the Garmin universe.
