Just watched a review on the Fenix 8 and love the new UI style. Will the Epix pro get an update to that UI style?
At this time, there have been no announcements around releasing the User Interface to previous watch models. So it is likely this is not something that is going to occur.
It's quite simple... if garmin wont update at least the last gen hardware with new ui... well there are other companies with great functions and customer support and software updates for years ;p
And wasn't it the case in the past that at launch the epix pro 2 watch had a few features that were exclusive only to that model, and after six months Garmin released those extra features on older watches…
i agree ... changes to UI are not so hard to retrofit and epix 2 (pro) should get at least 1-2 major updates since they were not cheap.
The reason why I don't want to call again is that one has to wait at least one hour in the hotline in Germay, one time I had to wait 1 and a half hour. That's totally annoying and not acceptable.
Haha, I have to wait which I don't want.
Do you know, that hey offer call back option?
As I understand, you think, complaining in Internet will solve your issues.
Wish you luck with such approach.
Where can you get a callback from Garmin? In the german hotline there's no callback option.
In Poland it is.
After information about possible wait time they propose you to use call back option.
for your information, i contact Garmin using Facebook, and Support call me back !
usually they respond to emails
I understand that you need to sell new devices, but I don't believe that the fenix 8 series uses an entirely new code base. They say this for every series, but except for the size of the screen and some new sensors, the base code it is almost the same. Don't tell me they have such weak programmers that they don't think to use a base code that can be upgraded from time to time.
I‘m just passing on information. Take it to Garmin.
I think it's simple
watches that sell around 1K (euro or dollars or whatever) have to be supported and enhanced for 1-2 major updates at least.
The same is on smartphones, 7 years of major releases lately. I'm not asking that but ... for the pro lines the health sensors are exactly the same so...
agree with you, the hardware it's ok
These are your problems with the watch??? Really??
- garmin pay didn't work at all at the beginning ( I managed to solve this on my own but garmin support wasn't able to help and also the manual doesn't) THAT sound like a YOU problem...and I guess you finally fixed it!
- maps weren't installed and it was a big problem to install them with a malfunctioning wifi function, garmin express did it but it was a mess to find out. THAT is definetely a YOU problem. Sometimes it helps to read the manual first.
- hr zones were changed automatically to weird values without having this option activated, and they were totally way off, 150 bpm was the recommended value from the watch for a recovery run ( max HR about 190). IS that a constant problem or a one-time occurence? Never happpened to to me.
- music player controls didn't work after an update, this was fixed later after two months, but that's also a good reason to not go back to old versions of the software; garmin support didn't help, didn't notify me about the fixed software. IT seems an update fixed the problem, so now all is good!
- training notifications during runs didn't work for a long time. BUT they do now? If so, problem solved!
- weather widget didn't work, after minutes of waiting no update of the graphs. WHERE I live in Germany, the weather changes but not every minute....what do you expect?? Even weather Apps like ACCU weather have issues.
- morning report is laggy on the current firmware, touch doesn't work anymore. LAGGY in what way? When I use it with buttons, it works fine.
- sleep analysis is just horrible. If you would educate yourself...and maybe check out some YT channels, almost all watches produce questionable results when it comes to sleep analysis.
- nap detection doesn't work at all. WELL, you can start a nap with a timer when you lay down. Unless you fall asleep at your desk without warning, that is not so bad. Even though it could definetely better!
As for your issue with the optical HR sensor, please do what every somewhat serious athlete is doing and get a HR strap. Everyone on the internet will tell you that optical HR during most activities is not good...no matter what watch you are wearing.
If you are really as unhappy as you claim, sell the watch on Ebay oder Kleinanzeigen and get an AW, but please stop complaining!
