Just watched a review on the Fenix 8 and love the new UI style. Will the Epix pro get an update to that UI style?
At this time, there have been no announcements around releasing the User Interface to previous watch models. So it is likely this is not something that is going to occur.
It's quite simple... if garmin wont update at least the last gen hardware with new ui... well there are other companies with great functions and customer support and software updates for years ;p
And wasn't it the case in the past that at launch the epix pro 2 watch had a few features that were exclusive only to that model, and after six months Garmin released those extra features on older watches…
i agree ... changes to UI are not so hard to retrofit and epix 2 (pro) should get at least 1-2 major updates since they were not cheap.
From what I can see, the only two bugs you have mentioned are rain interfering with the touchscreen and something about the optical HR reader. Rain interfering with touchscreens is an issue with every touch screen in the world and is not a bug. If you want to avoid it, turn off the touchscreen. RTFM. The optical HR reader works great for me and I suspect for most other people. Having said that, optical HR readers are going to behave differently for different people. Again, that is just the nature of the hardware. If you want to avoid any issues with your optical HR reader, wear a chest strap, like all serious athletes do when they want to accurately measure their heart rate.
The old watches are not dead just because Garmin has introduced a new watch with different features. Talk about the sky is falling. Garmin will continue to issue updates for the Epix just like they have for previous models of Fenix. In fact, Garmin's dedication to releasing firmware updates for older models is probably second to none in the industry.
Enjoy your watch. If you don't like it, sell it and buy a different one. Try to find one that costs $100, has no bugs, no missing features, no issues of any kind and for which software updates are issued daily even years after the model has been discontinued. Those are usually the best value, I have found.
But for goodness sake, stop whining.
Sell your watch for EUR 400,- and buy a Amazefit T-Rex 3 for EUR 300,- and you have EUR 100,- over and you can enjoy it!
No option. I have paid much more for the Epix Pro.
The T-Rex is no option since it's missing some options, first of all no pay option.
The only option is as I've already stated that garmin fixes it's software or gives me a full refund.
And of course I had a lot of more issues, not only the watch destroying optical HR issue (which is the most severe since it destroys all sports metrics renderingthe watch useless):
- garmin pay didn't work at all at the beginning ( I managed to solve this on my own but garmin support wasn't able to help and also the manual doesn't)
- maps weren't installed and it was a big problem to install them with a malfunctioning wifi function, garmin express did it but it was a mess to find out
- hr zones were changed automatically to weird values without having this option activated, and they were totally way off, 150 bpm was the recommended value from the watch for a recovery run ( max HR about 190)
- music player controls didn't work after an update, this was fixed later after two months, but that's also a good reason to not go back to old versions of the software; garmin support didn't help, didn't notify me about the fixed software
- training notifications during runs didn't work for a long time
- weather widget didn't work, after minutes of waiting no update of the graphs
- morning report is laggy on the current firmware, touch doesn't work anymore
- sleep analysis is just horrible
- nap detection doesn't work at all
- Garmin support is no help at all: only thing they do is collecting data and they didn't even try to help; only thing they told me was to do a full reset of the watch which always takes a lot of time because one has to setup a lot of things again and again like for example GarminPay
Yeahh the Epix Gen 2 it's very laggy even compared with the Forerunner 965 ( it's a little much better ) I cannot understand why
I newer told you to install unofficial software.
I advised you to install previous official version which worked for you and somebody from here could share with you.
If you say, I don't wont because I don't trust it - ok fine for me.
But after that you say, I don't want older version because some issue I faced on it were fixed in new SW version.
Dude, make your mind and decide what you want.
And stop talking how much you payed, obviously it was a lot for you and "maybe you were forced to sell your kidney", maybe first you should make your budget review and judge are you afford yourself to buy it.
So again my question to you:
Isn't it my right to get a working product from Garmin? As far as I understand you you're telling me that I have to live with a product with a broken software that makes my watchs sports functions mostly useless?
Is that right?
If yes are you from Garmin, do you have relatives working for them, do you own Garmin stocks or are you somehow involved into their business?
You’ve been fooled like me, real turd. They replaced the epix Pro mount 3 times, it did not change anything, sell it at a loss is the best solution. Anyway, they are useless, all the data is false.
I'm not related to Garmin except I'm using their products since 2016.
Never had issues you described , I had use Fenix from model 3 to model 7.
Now I use Descent MK3I and shave no issues with it.
I never told you that you should accept faulty device you obviously have.
And regarding this, my question is: did you ever contact Garmin support and report all issues you have?
Did you continue to report these issues to Garmin support?
Did they offer you replacement?
Od instead of take this in your hands and do something you will continue to complain over Internet.
I guarantee you, for sure it will not solve your problem.
And to close this pointless discussion below my example.
In the past I had issues with HRM=Pro PLUS, and in one call, support offered me new device.
I have contacted Garmin support quite often. I have supported them multiple times with logs and access to my data. I have spent a lot of hours with fully resetting my watch as recommended by them. Didn't work.
What I got from Garmin was
- denying a lot the problems
- never got any information or updates especially on the data I have giving them access to
- they never offered me a replacement
So, I tried to take this in my hands as you said but Garmin support is no help at all. The problems I solved I have solved on my own.
Mightbe it's only the support in Germany, but so many times I have contacted them and didn't get any help it's just a horrible support.
I've tried to contact them again via their web contact form on 28th of August. Everything I got was the automatically email that they've received it. Up to now no answer.
Best thing I got was the official confirmation that there are a lot of software issues but they couldn't and didn't want to tell me if and when those software issues will be resolved.
Problem is that I've not bought it with Garmin and they don't want to replace it. But the shop is not responsible for software issues and it's hard to prove those. Only way to solve this is that Garmin is going to update their software and solves all that severe software issues.
And as long they don't do that or offer me another solution I will go on complaining so that other people are warned not to buy a garmin device.
