Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 keeps rebooting endlessly

I've been using Epix Pro Gen 2 for six months. After the function of turning on the screen with a hand-raising gesture stopped working, I turned off the watch through the menu. After this, the clock does not turn on completely. When I press the "Light" button, the initial screen with the "Epix Pro" logo appears and after 20 seconds the screen turns off for 4 seconds, after which the screen with the "Epix Pro" logo turns on again for 20 seconds and then the screen turns off again for 4 seconds. This cycle repeats for several hours. When you press and hold the "Light" button, the watch turns off completely. When connected to a computer, neither Garmin Express nor WebUpdater detects the watch.

Please tell me how to solve this problem.

  • Agreed. It’s appalling service and now get the message that their helpdesk isn't around for customer calls today because of Chinese new year. This to be should be dealt with urgently with a support team in place to help customers. Shocked at how Garmin are handling this!

  • Just wish it worked and thanks for your advice and support. Continue to be without a watch with no help or acknowledgment from Garmin as they just say it’s fixed! We’re having to take time out of our day to travel to a family members house (miles away) today in a bid to get hold of a laptop! Thanks for your support Garmin :-(

  • Unfortunately I tried to get the call back yesterday but heard nothing. No one tried to ring me back! I’m going to try everything again today but they’ve already said their call centres won’t be working because of Chinese New Year! I honestly can’t see how anyone will help me. The steps don’t work so I’ve little hope with getting a fix with the computer either! I’ve never felt so unsupported with a problem with a product from the people who should be helping. Do they just fob people off and expect us to all fix each others issues as customers? Sorry for the moaning but I feel quite shocked I continue to be in this position.

    1. Apri Garmin Express sul tuo pc.
    2. Sull’orologio clicca e mantieni premuto il tasto di accensione (power o light) fino a quando si spegne
    3. Premi e mantieni premuto il pulsante start/stop (in alto a destra)
    4. Continua a mantenere premuto il pulsante start/stop e collega l’orologio al computer tramite il cavetto di ricarica
    5. Mentre mantieni premuto il pulsante start/stop seleziona l’opzione aggiungi il dispositivo su Garmin Express.

  • what are the steps to avoid getting into this issue ?

  • The steps Garmin outlined in the fix including connecting to a computer using the Garmin Express app did not work for me either.  However, I used the steps to connect to a computer in order to navigate to the Garmin Watch Directory to delete the files and that worked for me.  Those steps are outlined in earlier posts.  You may want to try those.

  • Hello. I am sorry to hear you are still experiencing this. Garmin is aware of a temporary outage that may have caused the watch to be stuck in a boot loop, or the start up screen. If you are having this issue, we would recommend trying the steps found here to resolve this: My Garmin Device Will Not Boot Past the Start Up Screen

  • Hello!

This happened to me for the past 5 days now!

    1) watch made a software update

    2) a few days later, watch got stuck on an endless reboot

    3) tried everything and nothing worked

    4) turned the phone Bluetooth down, powered on the watch and no problems but once I turned the Bluetooth on, it started the endless reboot

    5) when I tried to plug the watch (BT off) to the computer started the reboot all over again

    6) put BT off, turned the watch on, uninstalled all the third party app and third party watch faces and after that turned BT on and voila!!! WATCH BACK AS NORMAL

Moral of the story: do not install anything from third party origin on your watch, even if at first it doesn't cause any problems, after a future software update it can cause problems.

I hope I could help someone.
