Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 keeps rebooting endlessly

I've been using Epix Pro Gen 2 for six months. After the function of turning on the screen with a hand-raising gesture stopped working, I turned off the watch through the menu. After this, the clock does not turn on completely. When I press the "Light" button, the initial screen with the "Epix Pro" logo appears and after 20 seconds the screen turns off for 4 seconds, after which the screen with the "Epix Pro" logo turns on again for 20 seconds and then the screen turns off again for 4 seconds. This cycle repeats for several hours. When you press and hold the "Light" button, the watch turns off completely. When connected to a computer, neither Garmin Express nor WebUpdater detects the watch.

Please tell me how to solve this problem.

  • I got it to restart finally after letting battery die. I turned it off to wait for patch plugged into charger off. About 30 min later I see my epix gen 2 back with the start screen unable to boot up. I never turned it on. Now it's bricked again lol

  • For me it works, already tracked 3 GPS workouts since yesterday without any issues.

By the way, today I checked my watch contents just using File Explorer (Garmin Express not started), so there still was no GPE.bin file in Garmin\RemoteSW directory. However, when I started Garmin Express and watch got synced and refreshed updates' data, there immediatelly appeared a new file called CPE.bin. Deleted that just in case, disconnected the watch from PC, nothing bad happened. Also, I keep watch in sync with the phone, but seems it does generate any .bin file during phone sync. Probably would be another case if I enabled Automatic Updates.

  • I had to wait for battery to completely go empty since it wouldn't turn off. I got it to start and put manual instead of gps. It booted up and I turned it off to charge it. I noticed 30 min later it was plugged in and turned itself on and got stuck again in boot loop. epix gen 2. I have to wait all over again for battery to empty.

  • Just to be sure I understand. You were stuck in the boot up screen. While in that screen, you pressed the START button and connected to the PC? After several attempts you got it to work?

Or was your watch completely off when you pressed the START and connected to the PC?

The reason I ask is that I am stuck in the boot screen. It's completely unresponsive to any combination of buttons, so I can't switch it off. I tried your technique from the boot screen several times. But that didn't work.

  • its not working for me, it's just not being seen as a device :(

  • Push light button at least 25 seconds, watch should power off. Then pres start/stop button and connect watch to your PC. When you hear the connection beep, release start/stop. Now you should be able manually delete the GPE.bin file. Or do update via garmin express. It also should help. It might take a several attempts while you will be successful to connect. For me this worked fine enough, but had to try several times to successfully connect. Now watch works fine, no any issues.

  • Remove the RemoteSW folder in garmin folder , post connecting with pc , if watch is not showing on pc press and hold start stop button 30 sec it shall show the folder Garmin in that Find remote sw and delete it , watch will get working .did for mine as well and watch is working .

  • Help! Garmin watch has been stuck on screen (reboot) since yesterday early evening. Tried all the troubleshooting and getting nowhere. Emailed Garmin twice. No reply and no call back after requesting help that way too. Don’t have a laptop to plug into Garmin express and this is just becoming beyond a joke now with no clear fix. Any ideas what else I can do. Hard reset tried countless times and I mean countless, getting the double beep but nothing changes!
