Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 keeps rebooting endlessly

I've been using Epix Pro Gen 2 for six months. After the function of turning on the screen with a hand-raising gesture stopped working, I turned off the watch through the menu. After this, the clock does not turn on completely. When I press the "Light" button, the initial screen with the "Epix Pro" logo appears and after 20 seconds the screen turns off for 4 seconds, after which the screen with the "Epix Pro" logo turns on again for 20 seconds and then the screen turns off again for 4 seconds. This cycle repeats for several hours. When you press and hold the "Light" button, the watch turns off completely. When connected to a computer, neither Garmin Express nor WebUpdater detects the watch.

Please tell me how to solve this problem.

  • Hi !

had the same today, found on a reddit thread:

“Hold the light button so it stops rebooting, connect to the pc while holding the start button. Wait for it to show up as a device on your pc (might take a few tries). Open the device via explorer, navigate to Garmin/remoteSW, and remove that folder (backup just in case). Remove the watch, it should boot up and be useable (as long as you don't start activities) without factory resetting etc.“

Then i had a factory resetted watch. I could install the last backup.

Garmin has meanwhile removed the corrupt satellite configfile (or what ot was named…)

That means when you sync your watch in garmin connect the correct file should be installed and the watch healed. Mine is doibg fine now also with gps.

    Best regards,

    Chris

  • I have a MacBook Pro, so this does not work for me.

  • It's about "global" bug which Garmin introduce with latest update. And it's related to GPS. I just went for the trening and once I hit Run activity watch restarted and stuck on EPIX PRO logo constantly. Disappointed I've tried hard rest but it doesn't work for me. Same with trying to connect to Mac but no luck.

  • That got it, thanks.   Only other thing I spotted was that need to let go of START as soon as it's recognised by the computer :)

  • The above solution does not work for me.
Before I do a complete reset and reset everything, do you think there is another solution?

It can't be that all Garmin watches today are heading for an endless boot?
Has the latest software package been hacked?
    What is the reason?

Garmin is making it a bit easy for themselves, aren't they?

  • Finally fixed my stuck Epix Pro Gen 2. Connected to garmin connect on the computer while holding the light key for 30 sec. Garmin connect on the computer recognized the watch and downloaded updates. Then it asked to disconnect the watch. I did and after a while the watch reseted. All the setting and configurations are lost. But Connect IQ apps remained. It had to be paired again to the phone. It would refuse to pair until I removed the original Bluetooth connection from the phone's bluetooth setting. I had to enter my Garmin account credentials.

Just spent 30 mints reconfiguring the watch again.

It'll be interesting to know what has happened to these watches. Was Garmin hacked?

  • But none of this can be true!!!
What kind of work does everyone have now because it has to go back to factory settings?
All gone... and what a job.

You didn't even have the chance to make a backup. The Garmin is really behind in this day and age!

  • Worked like a charm and saved my run of the day. Much appreciated.

  • Hello, does the Garmin need to have been connected to the same computer previously? I literally received my Epix at 9 am this morning and it started looping 30 minutes later.

  • Got this to work in a Mac. Followed this instructions from Reddit: www.reddit.com/.../
