Garmin! Why has the new update 15.76 messed up so many watches

So many people are posting about problems with the new update 15 76. Why has this been rolled out without proper testing?

It seems the only way to fix these problems is to do a reset and restore from a backup.

For many this will be a daunting business as it takes quite a long time and then causes problems for people trying to re pair with their devices and restore from a backup.

  • Okay, I am going to update... LOL.  I will report back if anything is wrong.  I agree with your logic.  I am on 13.22 now and don't use anything third party, all stock setup.

  • Chris..  I just tried and I noticed that I cant seem to get the update now in GC on my phone (and then send to watch)?  I dont have WiFi here at the house.  I just use the BT from my phone to the watch.  I

  • I am assuming you had your watch System > Software Update disabled. If you enable it again and sync your watch with Garmin Connect, it will eventually push the new update to your watch. Otherwise, you can use Garmin Express on a computer to force the update sooner.

  • Got it!  Okay, all updated.  Excited to see the ECG feature.  However, when I goto the GC app on my phone, and click on the device there is no option anywhere to "finish setup" (actually, there was but it was for Garmin Pay).  So,, I set that up, lol.   But there is nothing for the ECG?   I am sure it's me and I am missing something.  Any ideas?

  • I never suffered from false sleeps before nap recording was introduced

I think that nap recording is in fact exposing how body battery is/was working: giving you points for certain physiological states you demonstrate during the day and night.

In addition to the UI/UX bringing this to light, there may have been tweaks in the sleep detection algorithm since I don’t get sleep time before the evening report any longer.

i am wondering if the designed behavior of the 3h+ naps replacing the previous night of sleep is still in the latest release

  • Hey!  So, I just did the recent update and I cant seem to find the evening report anywhere?  Is this something that I need to activate on the phone first?

  • should come up automatically - but you can check from the Body Battery widget -  open BB widget on the watch - then press start button - (view insight is effectively the evening report you get - viewing from BB gives situation at that point in time - if get evening reportt then open from BB they say the exact same thing) - settings - Turn of Daily Summary if its off.

  • I don’t get sleep time before the evening report any longer.

To qualify this further, if I don't turn the wrist HR AFTER the evening report, the watch continues to detect night sleep starting in front of the TV as before. However, I have not gottent early night sleep starting before the evening reports, only fake naps.

Fake naps confused with rest periods don't bother me personally, as long as they will not replace the previous night of sleep. That aspect, I didn't test yet as I didn't get a 3h long nap yet during the day since the nap detection was released.

  • I just wanted to say that I updated from 13.22 to current and so far no issues that I was worried about (battery drain, or naps that happen when not real etc).

In fact, I have been sitting on the couch trying to sleep for the past 2 hours (I think I did for a bit) and was surprised there was no nap recorded?  Has anything changed, or do they only trigger manually now?
