Nap feature is recording chilling on the couch as naps

When laying on the couch I get it recorded as naps, I think the nap feature should be non-automatic and required an enable/disable. At least a possibility for people to decide if they want it auto tracked or not, cause as it is now, it’s recording too many naps that are not naps.

  • Hilarious this whole forum is about false naps - who this wrong number dude...

Most of us have contacted garmin.

  • I'm just curious...you guys are not the whole Garmin's userbase and, normally, people write to complain.

If it was a general issue(majority of people) there would be a lot more threads and people writing Smiley

I just find it really weird to get nap recorded while a person is moving...it means something is really off and Garmin should find easily a reason for it.

I can understand if my HR goes lower than certain values and I'm still(nothing is perfect and borderline examples will always exist) but not situations that the other user described.

Well, can't say much more then good luck and hopefully you get it solved.

  • So to make sure a feature I didn't turn on and cannot turn off doesn't permanently add to my day without the ability to delete it I need to monitor my data daily for errors? What an absolute joke.

  • I would also like to know this, because on my end it only feels like it has gotten progressively worse.

  • I have contacted Garmin several times about sleep detection issues. For me, it wasn't the naps but false sleep detection when sitting on the couch reading, watching tv, etc..

First the support completely denied the issue. After some more pressure they admitted that it's software related and they can't even promise when that issue is solved. I've got an official Email from Garmin support in germany so that I can take this email and claim a refund at the retail store where I bought the watch.

And finally that Email wasn't just about the software issues regarding the sleep detection. It was also about all the other software issues I had and still have. Garmin has a software problem and they've got also problems to solve those issues in an adequate time frame.

And by denying all those issues they make the whole customer experience worse.

Since there are some people in the forum who are using Apple smartphones I'm not sure if it's an Android problem, because some issues are definitely related to the garmin connect app.

  • The OP’s post is about naps being recorded erroneously when chilling on the couch. If you’re getting naps recorded when moving then you need to raise a separate thread and contact Garmin Support.

Exactly. And very different to the OP at the start.

  • While I appreciate that, if you had looked back in the thread you would also see that I have the same issue as the OP as well. The false naps are a huge problem for me and many other a regardless of whether they happen sitting on the couch or standing up. I am not the only person in this thread to report naps in a different way than the OP.  So perhaps take that into consideration before essentially calling someone a liar. There is a problem with the software and Garmin knows it, they knew it in the beta testing but they put the product out anyway and now they are trying to fix it.

There is a large difference between naps being recorded wrongly during a period of relaxation such as sitting on a couch or at a desk, and naps being recorded wrongly when moving around. In the former it’s simply mislabelling; data such as body battery, recovery time etc would still be affected the same. For the latter it’s very wrong and needs a separate thread and a separate report to Garmin. The issues are entirely separate and should not be conflated.

  • It has been reported to Garmin multiple times Philip. It is possible for conversations to evolve but thank you for your comments.
