did you use walking or hiking. Is auto-pause on/off? Did you wait for a solid green lock before starting. What setting did you have for GNSS?
Did you pause/resume later.
Really difficult to tell based on what you have provided. What is the right route? Can understand the middle one - that is your track from the Epix. Not sure what the right picture is either.
Thanks for the reply. Auto-pause is set to off at both activities, I'm always using the Multi-GNSS feature in order to ensure precise tracking.
The right route is the right :) It's a screenshot from my wife's Apple Watch, that's the correct route. As you can see, it's the same until we reached "Popradske pleso".
I don't know, how my Epix counted 10.30km, because the route on the left screenshot takes cca. 4km.
sounds like it lost GPS during the hike for some reason - when it does that I have sometimes found that it manages to estimate a distance.
Would do a couple of check runs to make sure there are no future issues (never guaranteed) - but this is not normal for this watch.
Yep, it's frustrating, even because sometimes it tracks well, sometimes not. I have the newest software installed. I did not try reset it yet, and if it's possible, I wouldn't try it. Can't imagine, how many settings I have to set again
You can do a soft reset , holding in light button until it powers off , then restarting.
Its a lot easier doing a hard reset these days with Unified Training Status and Physio True Up that includes HRV etc , also know that if you do a device folder dump you can have lots of the settings and copy them back (activity settings as an example)
When I had problems with gpx track recordings, i was using the hydration tracking glance. So i try to remember not to use the hydration glance or any other glance. Maybe Garmin fixed the problem, i am not sure. I just no more use glances during track records and have no problems anymore.
Or any widget that does not use "location permissions", that's an issue since the release of the watch (2022 watches).
It probably won't be fixed as it's a very complex set of circumstances that need to be recreated. Most people won't figure out what is causing the track logging to stop working, so they can't report it to Garmin and Garmin will only work on it if enough people report the problem.
But if it's too complex to describe (a general "GPS stops working" probably won't be associated with this particular bug by support), people will just notice it's not working as it should and eventually move on to other devices.
Hmmm, it's possible, I'm using this glance too, during the activity it showed up, but closed it. I'll try to remove this glance and will see if the problem persists.
Don't forget to tell Garmin you are having this issue: https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/i/bug-reports/fenix-7-series---gps-track-recording-is-stopped-during-activity-when-a-widget-is-displayed
Every vote counts (by phone, mail or chat), bug tracker in the forum does not count.
After using an IQ widget you need to pause and resume the activity to get a new signal.
