Same thing just happened to me too. Lap/Back button is unresponsive and then the Menu/Up button has died too in a matter of several minutes. Watch is made redundant, and I don't even swim with this watch…
In Europe, 24 months warranty is mandatory by law on all consumer goods, Apple's devices included :-)
I’ve been able to make an hard reset (which has been a coincidence, considering that typically the reboot loop cannot allow any reboot activity): will see how long will last, but I’m not optimistic……
Nothing to do with water. I swim several times most weeks without issue, whilst others swim not at all and have problems. Some devices are faulty. Garmin will swap them out.
Contact Garmin support. Some of the watches have defective buttons.
I got three in as many months. I sold the 4th one to a non-swimmer. No issues to date.
There are quite a few users who had their watches fail after swimming.
I'm now with my 3rd Epix, two being replaced for back button problem. Crossing fingers, this new one at the moment is working.
I swim 2-3 times a week and I care everytime to press back/lap button OUTSIDE the water (even if my arm is dripping, obviously, but I don't see any different way to mark my laps...).
Hope finally this 3rd Epix will last for years, also because is not yet clear to me if the 24 months warranty starts from zero at every new watch replaced...
Looking at the serial number, it seems this last Epix is more recent than the others two, so I hope in the meantime Garmin found the way to fix the problem. A part this (very frustrating) issue, I really love this watch for my trainings and can't imagine to come back to my previous AW. I used it waiting for replacement, and hated that full-touch system, totally unusable in swimming.
I wanted to ask, I have seen a few other people as well mentioned 24 month warranty.. But, when I look at Garmin's website, for the Epix it only says 12? 24 months is on the Marq line of watches. I am in the USA, is it different in other places?

Yet, another reason I dislike living in the USA. lol.
Hi everyone.
I'm using my second EPIX (replaced ones) for 6 months already. I do swim in salt water four times per week and replaced EPIX looks OK so far. So, I do around 7-8K meters per week in total. I'm using buttons underwater and have no issues with any buttons (fingers crossed). BUT after EVERY training session, I immediately wash the watches with fresh water. I think this is a secret ;)
Тоже думал об этом, но пока EPIX после замены держатся :) Напиши сюда пару строчек как накопиться опыт использования на воде/под водой ;)
