epix 2 keep asking to reset to default settings

Following an updates of maps with Garmin express.

I restarted the watch, and it now ask for applying default settings,

whatever I choose YES or NO, it restarts again and ask the same question indefinitely.

I have no way to enter any menu, the watch simply does not start

  • Unfortunately, I'm also joining the club. 
    Same issue as described in the video.
    Contacted Garmin Product Support via chat, and after they suggested to hard reset my Epix.
    It completely froze and none of the buttons were working anymore.
    I've sent my Epix in via UPS on Monday, and I'm currently awaiting updates on my support case. 

    Oddly, enough, I can see the package has been delivered but the support tool states that it has not been received. 

  • Don’t worry, you can get a new one.

  • This happened to me twice within a day or two of software updates (watch started "buzzing"--similar to a "move alert"--and then the "back" and "menu" buttons stopped responding (light would work, but long-pressing that button wouldn't take me to the controls menu; then it got stuck in the endless reset loop). First time it happened and I was unable to resolve the issue following the steps suggested by Garmin, they offered to send a replacement. Then it happened again with the replacement within 2 months of wearing it. I'm about to give up on Garmin, but I really like the Epix so I'm going to give it another try (they're sending me a second replacement). 

  • Im encountering the same problem in my fenix 7. Tried soaking the watch in like warm water to check whether it was a stuck back button and now did the unprompted reset. I’m stuck with the fenix 7 logo on my watch face.

    think it might really be a button problem, but my watch is 7 months old. Currently out of the country but will call garmin support once I’m back in a week. 

  • Happened the same thing with my Epix 2 days ago. I have swapped to a new one because i was still in return window.

  • I called the outdoor support on Tuesday and they exchanged my fenix 7. A new one is arriving today Slight smile

    super fast and painless. 

  • No luck with replacement #3...the Menu/Up button stopped working not even 3 weeks after receiving the replacement and I could not fix the issue doing soft or hard resets. Contacted Garmin support for a refund; I'm done with Garmin smartwatches.

  • Ugh, I’m sorry. It seems you were really unlucky with your watches. 

    I exchanged mine and it is working fine. I am swimming with it almost every day and had no issues with my buttons so far.

  • Well, looks like I’m not done with Garmin after all; getting a Fénix 7 to see how it goes (truth is that I can’t find anything out there that I like that is not a Garmin product…).
