Anyone got buyer's remorse in getting the epix 2?

I was in serious doubt between getting the Fenix 7x sapphire solar or the epix 2 sapphire, both equally priced.

After watching all the video reviews on YouTube i let myself be persuaded in getting the epix, mainly of course for the amoled screen, which admittedly looks really good indoors!

However after a week or so the wow factor of the bright beautiful screen has worn off somewhat and I feel a little bit that now I'm left with a '6 day battery Fenix'.

I've tried using gesture mode to increase the battery to around 12 days and that really does add a lot of time, it's just that there is just a tiny little bit of lag between the wrist gesture and the screen turning on which feels annoying to 'wait' for (and it doesn't always register my wrist gesture) ....

Yes super first world problem here ;)

  • I just ordered an epix 2 so we will see what I think. I still have my F6XS so I figured why get a F7XSS as I pretty much have that watch without the solar in my F6. If I don't like if I can send it back and keep on trucking with my F6XS.

  • Just a tiny tiny bit, about the weight, everything else is awesome. Used to Forerunners...

  • I should take the battery meter off my watch face and use an alert instead. I do find myself overthinking the charging situation, but it's more of a "me problem" than an Epix problem. It may have a shorter life than my past Garmin devices, but compared to something like an Apple Watch, getting around a week is great; there's no need for all this battery anxiety.

I will say that if they went to a more modern charging method, it would be less annoying, like if I could drop it on a Qi charger, or at least if the cable was USB-C so I didn't have to scrounge for an adapter. There's just a tiny extra bit of friction thanks to these cables. Maybe I should get one of those aftermarket pucks.

  • I have one of those pucks, it works like a charm. Qi would be perfect indeed or maybe just usb-c like all other devices I own, perhaps that will be obligated for Garmin as well in the EU? I've read that all consumer devices will need to switch to usb-c here or something :).

Or maybe I'll return it and wait for Epix 3 with usb, solar charging and fenix like battery life Smiley

  • Not at all, no buyer remorse here whatsoever. Epix by far the best Garmin device I've ever had, and my Garmin journey has included old school VivoActive, various Forerunners, 645M, Fenix 6 Pro Solar - to me the Epix is the best of all worlds. Couldn't be any more pleased with it. And, no way I'd ever go back to an MIP screen.

  • I went from a Forerunner 645M to a Fenix 6 Pro titanium and more recently to the Epix 2 Sapphire (white).

Love the Epix 2, no regrets on the screen or new capabilities. My only regret at the time was the white color, as I would rather have had a darker body and the titanium silver bezel. However the white color has grown on me now so I am fine with it.

5-7 day battery life is fine for me, and the 'X' versions of the Fenix are just too big on my wrist.

  • Well.

I sold my fenix 6x because I got a titanium white epix for 750$ US new in box sealed. Sold my fenix 6x for about 400$ US.

Anyway, the watch did feel small at first ( still does) , I am a bigger guy than normal (powerlifter that jogs...about 250 lbs pretty muscular)  but I could never keep the fenix 6x for sleep ...it just was too noticeable. Now witht the epix, its way lighter for all day and I sleep with it ( I also own a oura and will prob sell it because I can now use the sleep function ).

Also, the watch wiggles less for jogs and the screen is nice. The Gps is 100X times better ( in forest) and the heart rate is way better. They have really improved these features that are the base for a good watch.

With this being said I will prob buy a fenix 7x and use both watches. I like the look of the fenix 7x ...So a black fenix 7x (my daily driver) and a white epix (sleep or different outfits). Thats sounds ok

I am looking on ebay for a used fenix 7x ...if I get a good deal I will bite!

  • I wish I could afford both Slight smile. $750 for the Epix is a good price though, it's €1000 here.

  • Definitely agree for the cable...wireless charging would be a dream but a simple usb-c charging would still be a big step forward.
As Stefan pointed out, in Europe, they will need to switch to usb-c in around 2 years.

  • For me, Epix all the way. Gesture mode doesn't bother me, and I think we're at a point where battery life is so good that I think, "Do I really need a watch that I don't have to charge for 3 weeks?" Even in AOM, I've gotten 6 days solid with 4 or 5 runs with music. That to me is amazing.

The screen is truly everything. I had the Fenix 7 sapphire, and the sapphire glass was really hard to see. I also found the solar ring to be quite distracting. Once I saw the Epix screen, I knew I could never go back.

Obviously, to each their own, but I've found the Epix to be the perfect blend for me.
