Anyone got buyer's remorse in getting the epix 2?

I was in serious doubt between getting the Fenix 7x sapphire solar or the epix 2 sapphire, both equally priced.

After watching all the video reviews on YouTube i let myself be persuaded in getting the epix, mainly of course for the amoled screen, which admittedly looks really good indoors!

However after a week or so the wow factor of the bright beautiful screen has worn off somewhat and I feel a little bit that now I'm left with a '6 day battery Fenix'.

I've tried using gesture mode to increase the battery to around 12 days and that really does add a lot of time, it's just that there is just a tiny little bit of lag between the wrist gesture and the screen turning on which feels annoying to 'wait' for (and it doesn't always register my wrist gesture) ....

Yes super first world problem here ;)

  • Coming from the F6Pro. Zero regrets.
    Better battery

I know, right? Compared to the Epix 2, the Fenix 6 Pro's battery feels really weak. I was kinda stunned.

  • Well I've bit the bullet and returned the epix to be replaced for a 7x. The screen novelty had worn off to the point that I wasn't amazed by it anymore.

In gesture mode it looked super awkward turned off and the gesture to turn it on only worked flawlessly 90% of the time, a tad too often it didn't quite work the way I expected, especially on my bike or in the car.

  • I had a fenix 7 sapphire and returned it. Got the epix sapphire instead (before that had a 5x). Could not be happier. No more dim screen, and very decent battery life. Will never buy again the old school dim screen version....

  • How do you find the Garmin and Oura sleep data compare?

  • Oura is more similar to Fitbit and it records a lot of short moments of awake status...also with a perfect night, you will get 30/40 minutes awake on an 8h sleeping time.

Not the best sleeper recently but you can see that starting/ending time is matching majority of the times...oura tends to record awake moments before/after the sleep while garmin doesn't.

Garmin has more light sleep in general but it's not difficult to get a lot of deep/rem if i'm really relaxed and sleep well.

    edit.

just my personal opinion...i don't think that oura has really good sleep tracking considering that it should be their best point. While i understand that a lot of awake moments get forgotten, i can't believe that i have so many of them during some nights(like in the last screenshot).

  • Watches are excluded from the usb-c regulations, as they are considered too small

  • I first had a FR645M for a year and then upgraded to fenix 5 plus sapphire as the first scratches started to appear in the screen and didn’t like the plastic toy feeling. After 3 years bought the epix sapphire. Battery life is ok compared to the 5 plus. I like the watch a lot. Especially all new functions which use combined data sources eg body battery. Weight is in the sweet spot. Screen is beautiful in most cases. Visibility is great, even in direct sunlight during activity and when screen is active. But on sunny days outdoors the AOD in inactive state is not visible at all. I wish there was a setting to boost brightness in inactive AOD state. Honestly In those moments I regret not having a MIP screen. As an outdoor person I will probably switch to Fenix 8, when it arrives, for that reason.

  • AOD set to bright while inactive would smoke the battery though. Being a newbie to smart watches, I have a base Epix and bought a base 7s after awhile because I wanted to compare the displays and different sizes. It should be an easy comparison right? I get to switch between them every day if I like. Jist of it is I love them both. If you asked me to choose one I wouldn't know which. The MIP display is more watch like (with a great backlight). The Epix display is fantastic. I have it set to activate to touch only for the battery and so it's not randomly turning on. They are just different. Shrug‍♂️Shrug‍♂️

  • Well I don't have both .... my wallet would not appreciate that Slight smile, but i have a FR945 en replaced my Epix for a fenix 7x. I think the Epix display is much nicer in general as a fashion smartwatch but less functional for true sports functionality. When not using the AOD, turning the screen on and off feels just a tad awkward and outside the MIP screen is much nicer imho. Besides the month battery life is also a nice bonus.
